Well, Netflix + ISPs are having issues atm so this might be more of an ISP issue rather than wiiU/Netflix Issue and it isn't dependent on how fast your subscription is: (The Video is a bit long but they explain it quite well but you may have to skip to 20:44)

Basically whats happening is Netflix uses up a lot of bandwidth so the ISPs (Time Warner, Version and etc) have to pay Netflix's ISP (Cogent) money in order to route Netflix traffic from consumers to Netflix and vice versa. So the ISPs doesn't like paying Cogent even though its not very much when you compare how much they make so instead they want to charge Netflix money to pay Cogent on top of what Netflix already pays themselves for Cogent. But Netflix said No but gave them a better win, win, solution, a caching server that basically contains 70% of all the content from Netflix which would mean that the ISPs would no longer need to route traffic to Cogent but the ISPs said no cause they are dicks and instead, they are basically routing traffic the long way around

This is gonna probably start happening to more and more people eventually provided you want to watch 720p-1080p (or lower in some cases) but hopefully its gets fixed

Just use the web browser, is far far better than the terrible Youtube app.

You must be using a completely different console compared to me mate. Earlier on the Netflix app was a bit.pants but now it's great. And I've never used the YouTube app, the browser is great.

I haven't even had to delete my Shared Save Data for ages.

Where the Netflix app particularly stands out is with its GamePad use. It's ideal for watching in bed before you go to sleep without falling asleep and leaving your telly turned on all night.

Youtube works fine if you're not using the app. Go to youtube in the browser, acutally works great. I can play videos and search at the same time without disturbing the video playback.

I also have no problems with netflix playing, but I do have a huge problem with the screen going blck and having to reset the console once you exit netflix. It happens some of the time.

I guess I should be using the browser for YouTube but I have zero complaints with my X1.

What system do you use for Netflix other than Wii U?

I just tried Netflix for xbox one, and I have to say it's a much better set up on Wii U. Simpler Layout to search and see whats new. 

I am about to try it on PS4, I will never use Netflix on xbox one again.
