I said it many times ... Japan = handheld smartphone country.

FIXED =P

3DS and Monster Hunter in general would like to have a word with you.

Technically, the 3DS isn't doing so hot there, anymore.  Don't get me wrong, it is doing pretty well.  It's just that the struggling consoles around it are what makes it look better than it truly is.

@ OP

The only thing I got from this article is that the places around him are very qiuet during launches.  He said it seems almost exactly like when the Wii U launched, but that did 400K, which is very good.  He says the difference is that he has actually seen people leaving stores with PS4s.  So, I guess it's going a little better for the PS4 than the Wii U, which means my prediction of 401K may come true.

wii u launched in japan with 306k units.

Lol I'm just looking at most of the people posting negative things. It's easy to click on someone's profile. Some are posting actual links with facts of the hardware being sold out. Like I said I just find the negative sony, Nintendo or Microsoft post funny

Don't be so serious, most people is just joking. PS3 sold worst even though launched in November (I'm assuming PS4 surpass that) so, there is nothing to worry about. Just move on.

It's not sold out after less than a day? Goddamn

Here is some sales info:

http://azalyn.blog22.fc2.com/
- Hardware sold out
- Best selling: Yakuza, Killzone, Battlefield
- Software tie ratio was over 1
- Yakuza Ishin PS3:PS4 = 2.5:1

http://ameblo.jp/oosakaking/
- Hardware sold out
- Software tie ratio 0.7

http://blog.livedoor.jp/kisarazumax1250/archives/37254157.html
- Hardware sold out
- Best selling: Yakuza, Killzone
- Software tie ratio 0.46

(Knack was bundled with all PS4s and is not counted in the tie ratio)

Not surprised by tie ratio, Jp seem very digital friendly too. Vita also had a ratio less than 1 at launch

I don't get why people expect a sellout as a sign of good sales or good news. For me is always bad news. It means is not meeting demand. If PS4 is not sold out yet, for me is normal, because after the japanese delay I expect a huge shipment there.

Basically, If Sony shipped 600-700k or even more, it's very difficult to sell everything in 24-48h. In my opinion, if PSV sold 320k and WiiU 300k 1st week, i don't believe at all PS4 is going to sell less. So what's happening is PS4 has already sold beyond that numbers, probably around 400-500k and there's still around 200-300k more to sell for the rest of the week, explaining why you can easily find PS4 48h after launch.

It just means Sony had enough ps4 to supply demend

Not meeting demand in a country where there is no competition is a very good sign. But yes, you're right in that I think it's important to note that not selling out isn't necessarily a problem. They can still be successful without having overwhelming demand.

Look on the bright side at least now Sony can start sending more stock to other countries as it seems Japan has enough lol

Bold: Not necessarily. It all depends on how much they shipped. Which is better, selling out with 100k in sales or not selling out with 300k in sales?

That is true. I'm assuming that they're shipping 300- 500k consoles ;)

Edit: Also I meant that if the PS4 sells out -- what are people going to do? Buy a Wii U? No

Not surprising that the only consoles pictured are Knack bundles.

It's not a bundle, Knack was given for free to all Ps4 buyers in Japan I believe as an apology for launching in the west first.

Just gonna say if the PS4 can't get the Japanese away from their 3DS/Vita/PSP's Microsoft will be in no rush to every grace them with the X1, would literally not be worth translating the OS into Jap, nevermind localizing anything else.

Really? Well no wonder its still in stock... You don't give people an epic console with a shit game even if it is free... They should have rather gave them KZ or Yukuza or Something that the Japanese love... Not something that not only doesn't appeal to Japanese people, but something that doesn't appeal to anyone unless they love cutting themselves with a toothpick

Its basically like saying Sorry, here is the world's shittest game for you to play to show how little we care

First off, "shit game" is your opinion. Secondly, Knack doesn't appeal to Japanese people? It's a platformer, developed by Studio.....JAPAN. It's very Japanese.
