It's not that great to be honest. Last game i had fun with was Shadow Warrior.
Hunting Season is done...
I'm not sure about US prices for components but
- 7950HD or equivalent GPU as a minimum
- 8BG RAM as a minimum. Recommend 12 or 16 if possible
- Any current gen i5 or AMDs latest octa cores
- Whatever HDD you need.
- Use a .edu or ac.uk email to buy Windows 8 on the cheap
*edit, checks US prices*
Um, 7870 LE or equivalent GPU as minimum >_>

OP, would you consider getting used parts ?

I personally believe Windows 8 should be avoided at all cost...are there any games that exclusively require Windows 8? I can't think of any at the moment.
In any case, he could just pirate it, saves quite a bit of money.

Ok, you can check you monitors specs on the monitor's box(lol) or searching the web for that model.
Since your are from Argentina I can feel your pain(I'm from Venezuela and PC hardware is garbage and very expensive here)
Your best bet is search for used CPU and Motherboard parts
An Intel i5 or i7 (2nd gen or above) is ideal for gaming. My would choose an used i5 2500k with a Z68 or P67 motherboard. It should be around 300$
8 Gbs of RAM its more than enought, any 1600 mhz RAM will do. Around 60$
The most important part is the VideoCard. Best bang for buck is(according to budget)
New:
AMD 260X 1 GB around 120$ (not enought for 1080p 60 fps)
Nvidia GTX 660 2 GB around 170$ (Barely enought for 1080p 60 fps, may require mid setting in some games)
Nvidia GTX 760 2 GB around 260$ (Good for 1080p 60 fps, High setting most of the time)
Nvidia GTX 770 2 GB around 330$ if you can find that price(Great for 1080p 60 fps, high ulta settings)
Used:
AMD HD 7870 for less than 200$ (perf between GTX 660 and GTX 760)
AMD HD 7950 for less than 260$ (perf same level as GTX 760 but with more VRAM)
AMD HD 7970 for less than 330$(perf same level as GTX 770 but witj more VRAM)
Hardrive:
Reuse your if it's SATA drive(little flat cable) and more than 500 GB if not buy a new one for 70$
Case:
Around 40-80$ for a decent one
PSU:
Around 50-80$ for a decent one
Total:
CPU and Mobo: 300$
GPU: Low 120$, Mid 170$, Mid-high 250$ High 330$
RAM: 60$
Case: 40$
HDD: 70$
PSU: 70$
Total: around 790$ for a Mid-high tier PC, 1080p 60 fps high settings.

"Just buy a PS4"
Yeah I agree with that guy. I love PC gaming, but for the exclusives. If it's on consoles I usually buy it there. You mentioned lol and indies, so why not just get a good pc that'll play those games great instead of a super rig that runs everything at max and 4k? It just seems kinda pointless to go that extra mile unless you're a graphics whore.

If it is cheaper of course! I would have to see how reliable it is though...

Well it heavily depends on how big of a jump developers are willing to take. I mean Titanfall for example has some very low recommended requirements, so a $800 PC should be able to play that game even on max settings. However a $800 PC will have some problems with The Witcher 3 on max settings or even high, although that game looks so good that even medium settings would be better than Titanfall max settings. Keep in mind that games like The Witcher 3 are exceptions (they were last gen at least), not all games require a godlike PC to be able to play on max settings. |
There were two games I was unable to max when I bought my last rig; The Witcher 2 (releasing about six months after I bought the PC) and Metro 2033 (launching 7 months before I got my PC). Those are rather spectacular demands for their time, I maxed BF 3 easily on SP.

Well yeah as long as the performance is good I'm okay with that. As I said later in the thread $800 would be the max I'd pay to upgrade my already shitty PC.
