Well I work in the video game industry, so by definition yes.

Hold up....Heavy Rain was always touted, since its tech demo, to "cross the uncanny valley". And while I realize that it wasn't even close, the main draw of the game was the detail in the characters. And God of War did it better?

Not surprising. The characters looked fantastic and I can only assume that as this gen progress it will only get better. But like other have said, I hope the fix the environment. They need to put more work into that but we have 7+ months before it might be released.
1 MILLION POLYS OR BUST
(Actually at the rate they're going this isn't so far fetched... :) )
I love playing 100.000 polygons, just so much better than not 100.000 polygons.
The Order: 1886 certainly looks cool, but I hope that won't be its only strength.

Yeah, I agree. The game world is just as important as making the characters look real... Spread the available resources, make it all look good, I don't care if they have to tone back the cloth physics, couldn't care less if his collar moves realistically or not. But, there is a lot of time left still, so I'm sure they'll get the rest of the game looking pretty amazing... Now, I just hope the game PLAYS amazing... That, of course, is the single most important aspect of any game... Ever.

Very cool, joe, I wanted to get into VIDEOGAME programming, but it never happened. Now, it's too late for me to try to break into the industry.. I wish you continued success.
Adam Sessler put it well, the game does kind of resemble an oil painting. The character models and lighting look stellar. I too share some concerns about the environment detail, but perhaps that was the acceptable trade off for RAD. We'll see how well all the visuals fit together come E3, that small teaser released wasn't enough to form a solid opinion yet.
It makes me wonder how incredible the enemy 'half-breeds' are going to look when they're finally unveiled though.
