Forums - Nintendo - Why is the mighty 3DS third party support seem almost as bad as Wii U third party support?

Because western devs don't know how to make games for handhelds anymore.

They are obsessed with graphics and film-like experiences that their games can't be scaled down to fit into a handheld and the way they are used: short but intense burst of play.

More like, they believe making interactive movies will sell better...

Bet with bluedawgs: I say Switch will outsell PS4 in 2018, he says PS4 will outsell Switch. He's now permabanned, but the bet will remain in my sig.

3rd Parties just can't compete with Nintendo's software. If you go to the store and look at 3DS games, are you going to pick Luigi's Mansion, Mario Kart, SM3DL, ALBW, or Animal Crossing, or are you going to pick Sonic Lost World, FIFA, or some other 3rd party title. Xbox barely releases any 1st party software anymore except for Halo and Forza so it is easy to compete there, and most of Sony's 1st party titles don't sell very well either.

they've all gone casual.no 3rd party game on any console apparently, gaming doomed

get your steam box

Ubisoft and EA have never had compelling handheld games, their strength is in console gaming, so no support from them. Warner Bros. and Activision port their LEGO and Skylander games. Square Enix is abandoning handheld and console gaming altogether for mobile.

Yeah, nintendo is almost out of ammo, because all the biggest hits areadly came to the console(pokemon, mario kart, mario in general), and the 3rd party support to its has been poor to. I think nitnendo should maybe approach some indies and and make boxes release of some of their successfull games, since they have been all relatily successfull on the console, but this is me, eh.

"Hardware design isn’t about making the most powerful thing you can.
Today most hardware design is left to other companies, but when you make hardware without taking into account the needs of the eventual software developers, you end up with bloated hardware full of pointless excess. From the outset one must consider design from both a hardware and software perspective."

This is what I've been saying. The 3DS' lack of third party support is almost as bad as the Vita's.

Both systems have a lot of exclusive games in Japan.  Japan hates us though.  That's why they localize their content less than the west localizes theirs for Japan.

I've been feeling like there aren't many games coming for ANY consoles lately... Maybe it's just my perception of things, but, there hasn't been much of anything going on, anywhere.... I'm looking forward to second son, the order(if it turns out good), and aside from getting bravely default, I can't think of anything else coming from any developers....

Who wants western games for handhelds anyway.

The 3DS already has quite a bit of third party support from it's past years on the market. Western Developers have already done their job pushing shovelware onto it, now they will just move back to Mobile platforms.

There are usually only a few stand out third party titles on most Nintendo consoles anyway. The 3DS is no different.
