Forums - Politics - 19F – The Night Venezuela Finally Imploded

Is anyone here from Venezuela?

I am from Argentina. My gut feeling (and something many people think) is that Maduro didn't win the last election. That he is an usurper. And that Capriles (the opposition candidate) tolerated that because it was either that or having a civil war, and he prefered to let Maduro be president.

The biggest problem is the military ar chavists that support Maduro, so I don't see how the people can win, it is a very ugly situation.

Mcain already said that the U.S.A should send troops to Venezuela. Obama hasn't said anything as far as I know.

There is A LOT of oil...and I mean A LOT...there's no secret or rumors here, so U.S sending troops isn't that hard to imagine, and heck that's fine by me, for every Venezuelan soldier the U.S army kills, I will give them a glass full of oil.

How well has that turned out for Iraq?

How many non-military Iraqis were killed by US in that war?

Don't ask for this. Opposite of what US PR always says in regards to our standing firm for freedom/democracy etc... its all bullshit. We join wars for our own benefit and dominance.

Libya we bombed due to the rest of the world taking action and we didnt' want to seem like we were not world's superpower. In the end its still shit for the people.

Iraq we attacked because of oil and better control of region in fear of an rising Iran. Its all resource and military related.

Syria we ignored and won't do anything because they are not a threat to us or a strategic value of any size.

Venezuela we might due to it being in the Western hemisphere where we allow no other nation any control and they have a lot of oil. But while it may seem good... it will end up with our damn troops stuck there for way too long, some other asshole gaining control, and hundreds of thousands if not millions of civilians killed.

^this, not to mention, US civilians are sick and tired of troops being used over seas. I would agree about the situation in Libya becuz obama wanted to use troops, but the people said no, so instead, they bombed it. I honestly dont see the US getting involved in this, unless the situation gets even uglier than it is now

Pretty much destroys all hope there is, because it's true!

Also, there are roumors that chavism never won... The problem is that, the people that counts the votes, guess what? Are all chavists!

It is in hot topics.

Been reading and sharing various videos and such on this.

Also been praying this is resolved quickly. So scary that a military will follow orders such as this on its people.

No idea why this isn't showing in the VGC hot topics...or at least not for me

at the top left of the hot topics page you should see a "Filters (show):".  click show and i'll bet you have unsubscribed from the political discussion board.

OT - i'm really sorry about the situation.  i wish there was more i could do than feel sorry.  :(

This is absolutely horrifying and heart breaking. Yet another reason why I for one will never let my government disarm me.

this is why the founders wanted the general populace to be armed, to keep the government in check.

The only problem is, how do you keep the people in check.

Maybe you are right...the desperation of getting out of that piece of shit is so strong that we usually don't think throw the situation.

Between this and the current riots in Kiev and the chaos in Syria; I feel like I have nothing to complain about in my life.

The ex-candidate Capriles Radonski just said that people should put a hold to the violence...that's so freaking stupid.

As a Venezuelan, I of course don't want my country to suffer, but at this point, violence IS the only possible way we could get out of that situation, the times when Venezuela could get out of that in a pacific way are GONE.

The problem here is that because he is such an important figure, people will listen to him...and it will just prolong the country's economic and social problems even longer...

I hope I'm wrong, but Venezuela will share the same faith as Cuba, Egypt and Libia...if we ever get out of this mess it will be in the next 15 to 20 years...again I hope I'm dead wrong on this...

Are you currently residing in Venezuela or Costa Rica?

I was literally in Venezuela last week...was planning on staying there longer, but my family wouldn't let me.

I'm in Costa Rica right now, and I'm pissed I can't be there fighting...only thing I can do is fight with my mouth...
