Forums - Microsoft - Is Phil Harrison the problem?

I think it was mostly Matricks fault, but Phil might have been part of the problem as well. Oh well, most of the bad policies don't exist anymore but the damage has already been done.

Phil Harrison joined Microsoft in 2012 It was pretty much all Mattrick it all started going downhill when he took over from Peter Moore in 2007.

Kinect, lower specs and $499 are 3 pretty bad policies that survived through to launch. That some people don't recognise these are the ones doing the most damage today demonstrates a lack of awareness. If Xb one had been $499 and more powerful with Kinect optional it would be doing a lot better than it is now, even with all the other policies, and the reversals being the same. And without Kinect Xb one would have launched in more countries by now. It wouldn't be selling better than PS4 globally but it would be much closer, and it probably would be ahead in the USA.

No, Harrison is just a nomad with ants up his bum, Crazy Ken was the real issue. He was, well; crazy.

But they couldn't change the specs that late and the Kinect included seems to be a policy introduced by upper MS management. Also they didn't want to sell at a loss so that's why the price is high.

Phil Harrison was also the guy who vehemently disliked the title Uncharted and wanted ND to rename it Dude Raider.

Well technically it is Dude Raider but that name would have been one of the funnies titles of a video game ever.
