btw a 7750 won't need any extra power

for what you want it for a 6670 7750 7770 will more than suffice

in fact my first card was a 5670 and that ran any game albeit with tinkering

Or the 7750?

i should be fine in regards to power supply with both?

First, you may have to upgrade you power supply. A 300w won't cut it for a R7 260x. Also, the new 265 was recently announced and the previous 260 and 260x will have a cheaper price point; therefore the 260 will be in your price range. Either way, it's recommended you upgrade your power supply.

If you don't want to upgrade power supply, then I'd suggest the R7 250. It should be fine for your needs (It will be much better than your integrated graphics and may not require a power supply upgrade).

A 300 watt power supply is enough. He has roughly around 150 watts to spare in his system.

Just a precaution. Card power draw can vary and spike, son he needs to go easy on the power rails assuming they are limited by given current.

It's true that the power draw can spike and both AMD and Nvidia are guilty on giving rosy max TDPs an all but most of the cards that we named are well around 100 watts and I highly doubt that a 100 watt card will fluctuate around 50 watts. If this were the high end you'd have a point but this is the low to mid ranged market we're talking about.

oops, so* not son

Sure but I wouldn't risk it nonetheless.

Prices are super inflated from bitcoin mining.

That only applies to high end cards ...

He's looking for something under the $100 budget and the HD 7770 still fits the bill perfectly compared to nvidia ripping off users in the low to mid ranged segment.

Oh i thought he said 300 range i mustve misread the OP

I'll put my vote towards a Radeon 7770/Radeon R7 250X(Both the same, get whatever is cheaper, provided it's GDDR5)+PowerSupply.
A Corsair CX400 would be more than ample.
Or an Antec NeoEco 420C.

Try and get a PSU that's efficient, it would save you money on the power bill and it makes an allowance for capacitor aging.

If you want something cheap and nasty and very low-power, the Radeon R7 240 should fit the bill, just get one that is either passively cooled or has a massive quality fan.
Low-end cards usually have horrible and cheap heatsinks and fans which don't take long for them to fail.

Otherwise, there is the Radeon 6570 and 7570 (Both the same.) which are a massive improvement over the HTPC card that is the Radeon 6450. (Again, try and go for a passive card.)

Then you have the Radeon 255 which is not to far away, which is the Radeon 7750's replacement. (Both the same.)

Basically, the general consensus is, the Radeon 7770 is the best price/performance.
