Might want to look at the context of it all as same can be clamied about you, X1 is not PS3 it has none of the advantages and benefits PS3 had.  Nor Did PS3 face such strong direct competitior as X1 is facing.  People need to get over PS3s recovery, X1 does not have similar circumstances that would make that as likely a reality.

Nothing stated in this post is correct haha.  Xbox One has plenty of advantages and benefits.  The obvious one is Kinect and another one would be Xbox Live.  Both of which were key to 360's success and can be a key to success for the X1 if marketed properly.  And yes PS3 faced as strong as a direct competitor as Xbox One is.  Really not even sure how this argument can actually be vocalized.  The competition of the past generation may have been the most fierce in the game industry since SNES and Genesis days.

No in actuallity, SamuelRSmith's post may have been the most appropriate for this thread.  The main point being, let's give it more than a few months before we claim the world.

Cant handle reality.  Its ok PS4 dommination has had that effect on many people on here.

It has none, kinetic has already proven to be a weakness.  And many would take PSn+ over live though it could be argued to no end.

And in no way was 360 as strong a competitior to the PS3 as PS4 is to the X1, yes it was fierce showing them a somewhat even match.  The way PS4 is killing its comp shows X1 is no firce competition at all like there was last gen.   Its under powered over priced with inferior 3rd party games and lesser 1st party, and those are just facts.

X1 does not have Japan a few crazy Euro nations and massive world wide distribution to fall back on doring tough times like PS3 did, Its losing in EVERY market in the world.  PS3 never reached such dire times.

Heres the thing with more time, as it goes PS4 dominates more and more in case you havent noticed.   So unless a price cut happens for X1, time will only make matters worse.  Its a inferior product at a higher price, it does not get any simpler to expalin why PS4 is kicking the shit out of it world wide.  Untill thats rectifed it will continue and will only get worse.

Your post makes no sense. PS3 offered blu-ray, something xbox did not. Ps3 had inferior multiplatform games. Xbox offers small features not found on ps4. As for psn plus, its better for deals and games. Xbox Live is the more structured and more social online. So the X1 is in a similar position as the ps3 was.

I just want my jrpgs :3

Yeah haha which is why I am not really discussing anything with BeElite anymore haha.

Your post on the other hand is a much clearer point.  Although I don't think the comparisons between the PS3 and X1 are all that great, they do seem to share a few similarities.  Will take a few more months of sales to see how the X1 trends in comparison to both the 360 and the PS3.

Im surprised PS3 is above 360.

"In video game terms, RPGs are games that involve a form of separate battles taking place with a specialized battle system and the use of a system that increases your power through a form of points.

Sure, what you say is the definition, but the connotation of RPGs is what they are in video games." - dtewi

PS4 will not dominate like PS2 did. Xbox is now a household brand/name in the USA. PS4 did double Xbox One in sales this January but that doesn't mean that it will stick that way forever. If by using that logic than the 360 would have blown PS3 out, PS3 outsold xbox. There are around 40 million 360s in the states, and majority of those haven't converted to the new gen and won't for awhile. Granted, there are a ton of ps3 users that havent converted as well.

I feel that Xbox 360 users won't convert to next gen for awhile because there is no reason to. The majority of xbox 360 users bought a 360 because of online gaming. Playstation users got their hardware because it was better and faster. Ps4 offers better specs than any other console, xbox one features upgraded specs from the 360 which isn not a reason why any xbox 360 user would convert. They want a better xbox live experience compared to the 360, because there is no point in buying the One for hardware when xbox live was why we got a 360.

Or it could be a conspiracy :3 Sony's second console performs amazingly, microsoft's second consple lerfroms amazingly. Sony's third console not so well, Microsoft's console not so well. Concidence? I think not.

In all seriousness, I'll be buying the One as soon as Halo 5 is released (don't care for price of console. Paid $600 for my ps3 and sold it a half year later)

I expect it to sell way more than 100 million in the long run, see this :)

It needs to sell 6-7 times more than Xbox ONE to achieve PS2 domination status. It does have a chance outselling X1 2:1 but even that is unlikely.

How is that unlikely? The ps4 is trending to double the install base of xbox one once it launches in Japan

Japan is always being ignored. And the numbers it can make there will be decisive enough. PS2 domination is a little far fetched stuff though. But we never know this early in a generation.

What benefits did the PS3 have that the Xbox One lacks? I suppose you could argue blu-ray, but that is a media feature, of which the Xbox One has better features over the PS4? At the time of launch, PS3 didn't even have "the graphics" going for it, as most games, early in the generation, performed better on the 360 than on the PS3.

Not to mention that the general feature set of the PS3 was oh-so-lacking when it first came out. Zero multitasking, zero customisation, Playstation store was dead, PSN was absolutely nothing compared to Xbox Live at the time.

And how did PS3 not have as strong a competitor as the X1? Did you forget that the Wii sold absolute gangbusters in 2006/2007/2008, and the 360 outsold the PS3 by a substantial margin during that time (Christmas 2008, the 360 was outselling the PS3 by a quarter a million per week).

----

But, ultimately, you missed the point of my post. My point wasn't that there is going to be a turnaround, or anything like that... my point was that to predict these things are absurd. Nobody can possibly even fathom a guess as to what the sales conditions will be in 2020.

-----

Oh, and I see in another post down below there was some kind of implication that I'm an Xbox fan in some way. I'm not really a fan of anything, I have a PS4, play it from time to time, probably won't bother with an Xbox One or WiiU. I got the PS4 because it was cheaper, and because of PSN+ instant game collection. It was a value proposition, like it is for most people. If Microsoft can prove that their console offers more bang for the buck than Sony's, then the sales will change.

The PS4 will dominate but I don't think as much as the PS2, I mean, the PS2 sold like 160m while the others barely passed 20m S: I doubt the PS4 will reach 150 m and I think the One will surely pass 50-60 m so it will not be as awful as the first Xbox. Well that's what I think but anything can happen...
