You wer already corrected by fatslob with Pikmin, but what if it did have real fluid simulation? Wouldn't this just be so much better if the water felt "alive?"
I think these types of games are perfect examples of where true fluid simulations would be amazing! It doesn't affect the gameplay, but it just adds that much more to the experience.

They've announced the next gen consoles already!? But the current console generation just started...

Silly me. The other current gen consoles

The Wii U can render huge worlds, have dynamic lighting, locked 60 fps, have many enemies on screen, etc. The quality and resolution of the textures may be lower, and the lighting may not be as realistic but that's not necessary for an engrossing gaming experience, that's up to the director, developer, etc. Higher resolutions and textures won't make bad developers game's good. As well if you don't know how to make a believable world, more resolution won't fix that. To make a game/world believable that's in the art direction, writing, diecting, the experience, etc. |
Higher resolutions? How do you figure? Both systems are putting out 1080p.

Sorry I totally fell behind on my own thread, lol... But hey, exercise is more important, if I had to weigh a choice between the two
And honestly, that's always been my point. The PS4/XBox1 will be more detailed than the Wii U, but I just don't see there being this big gap the media and "hardcore gamers" want to pretend there is. And I know graphics, I'm a PC gamer, lol... I can appreciate the finer details, but I can also be realistic and not think that these finer details are worth trash-talking over. I don't trash talk the PS4/XBox1 even though my PC is miles ahead, because it's just in the details (okay, sometimes I do, but that's only when the dirty console peasants want to start a fight, lmao).
I plan on getting a PS4 OR Xbox1 when they're about 50% of their current price and they have killer exclusives. Until then, it's ridiculous to put the Wii U outside of the context of current generation along with the PS4/XBox1. The "underpowered" smack talk needs to just stop!
I've been saying this for two years now. The Wii U's graphical gap between the PS4/One is NOWHERE near what the media has played it up to be. It's far more reminiscent of the 6th gen systems where all were relatively equal in that area, with some systems just have minor edges. Nothing very noticeable like the Wii last gen.

I mean, sure it's more powerful, but after seeing these two, I don't find myself thinking "Oh, how much better this would have looked on PS4"... Am I the only one that thinks that people will stop thinking the Wii U is underpowered after these two games see daylight? |
I was blown away by that battle they showed in X really just such a wide open looking world I really am looking forwards to getting my grubby mits on that game at some point. Did you see how it transitioned from on Foot to in those mechs seamlessly? Some people would call that the game of the generation.

Though my thread is focused on graphics, I have to say, I did notice those mechs were precariously "parked" there clearly for the sake of the video...
But, yes, it seems we're about to have a good JRPG/MMO combat style/mech TPS combat game coming exclusively to the Wii U... BOOYAH!!!

I might have missed it btw but I guess the 4 players were not all local play either? like there was 4 sets of health bars, was it too much to hope for that being 4 players online after hearing there will be 4 player online in MH4U on the 3ds? That will be amazing too, main friend who plays MH3 lives 200miles from me so not often we can play Adhoc hunting in that.
They didn't announce a whole lot which wasn't already known about in this direct... but the clarification they added to some titles really raised my interest in them, then of course ending it with a lovely blast of what the wii-u is capable of visually was the icing on the Nintendo cake for me.
