Usually the PS brand is the most popular in the home-console arena. SEGA was before it, though the industry as a whole was a lot smaller before the PS1. I think the PS2 was the most popular console ever here basically having a monopoly in the 6th gen. The PS1 was similarly popular, though it had better competition. However, the Wii was crazy popular here as well, but it probably didn't beat the PS2. PS3 was likely still the winner of the HD-twin battle, but the XBox 360 put up a good fight. Right now, everyone's only talking about the PS4. Though hype isn't very high regardless and XBox One is pretty much unknown here.
DS could have beaten PS2 however, in it's heyday you'd see as many DS's 'in the wild' as you see smartphones now. 3DS isn't doing to bad either, and usually has the biggest shelf space in stores now, but it's an obvious decline from DS.
So for the Netherlands Sony wins overall, while Nintendo is decent for a European market.
