Abysmal 360 numbers for US if true. Hope NPD improves on those numbers...

9th year!!??

its amazing its selling this well imo

50% more than the PS3 which is only in its 8th year.

And ps3 sold 2x x360 ww and still is an abysmal sale, so what was the point of the comparison? To say that in USA ps3 sucks more compared to x360? We know that for at least 8 years.

The PS4 kind of almost killed the PS3.

Nah, PS4 didn't do that specifically, the PS3 price did though. Seriously, over 7 years in and it's still $249.99-$269.99 for a decent model. No one's buying that crappy 12GB model. Both Sony and Microsoft should have dropped the price on the higher end models last year.

I am curious as to the bottom price for the PS3. I seem to remember the PS2 bottoming out at $79, at this rate PS3 will be double that.  Wonder if it will be a new trend or an anamoly.

If PS4 wins, MS will say they won my $$ spend
If XB1 wins, Sony will say they were "largely sold out at retailers"

Yeah your right, I think it will bottom out at $149.99. Because Sony couldn't afford to drop the price at a certain time in the PS3 life cycle, they are missing out on a lot of sales when it mattered.

So soon!

ok

Not going to happen unless Microsoft and Sony can at least break even on the PS3 and 360 as I doubt either are interested at selling them at a loss anymore.

No CPU/GPU fabrication companies (apart from Intel) have been able to dieshrink there manufacturing process in over 2 years so no cost saving there.

While memory prices have doubled since 2012.

Bluray player price has bottomed out at about double DVD price. (infact there's been a bit of a price increase because of demand for the PS4 and Xbone).

And HDD's don't really go below $40, the HDD companies discontinue lower capacity's and shift there range instead.

It's why Sony used 12GB flash it was the only thing they could do to get a cheaper model out.
