Forums - Gaming - Prediction: PS4> XBOX ONE during TITAN FALL launch

Will ps4 outsell xbox one during titan fall week?

ps4>xbox one 210 50.24%

xbox one>ps4 69 16.51%

xbox one => ps4 11 2.63%

xbox one = ps4 24 5.74%

ps4 will outsell xbox one... 104 24.88%

Total:418

Yes though, X1 sales will be lower worldwide, what with Japan and Euro PS4 gamers hopping on the bandwagon.

And to that I say so what. This gen just got its first mega-hype new IP blockbuster, and it didn't debut on PS4. I know that whatever X1 sales are that week, they will be sales earned and not merely buying for the brand name.

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

With Japan sales, I highly doubt that the One will beat the PS4. However, considering you said without Japan, I'm going to say there is a chance, though still not likely. If rumors are true that the One's sales are down quite a bit in January's NPD, things will only get worse by March. And it will be worse in EU. Sony, on the other hand, is still having trouble fully keeping up with demand. While demand will probably drop by the time Titanfall comes out, sales will still be stabilized quite a bit above the One.

Of course, there's also the fact that a lot of new info is starting to come out for Titanfall that's not really putting the game in the brightest light. It looks to be another 720p (maybe slightly higher) game with subpar graphics, so not really a showing of the One's power (quite the reverse.) The matches are only 6 vs 6, with poor AI bots to fill in the spots to make battles seem more epic. Don't get me wrong, it seems to be shaping up to be a fun game that I'm sure that One owners will enjoy, but it definitely isn't going to lead gamers to buy the One in droves. Especially, when it also comes out on the PC and 360.

I doubt it; there's no compelling, competing software on the PS4.

Looking at recent vgchartz numbers I can only say that this is a very weak argument.

This game is getting an incredible amount of buzz (wether you think it deserves that hype or not) and will no doubt increase sales of the console tremedously, while the PS4 remains stagnant.

Little bit of information here. Remember Gears of War 1? That game also generated a ton of buzz and it released in November to top it of. Gears of War boosted 360 sales in its release week by about 40k units. That might give a little perspective about what can be expeccted of Titanfall.

I don't know about the specific launch week numbers, but MGS4 gave the PS3 a 200k hardware boost for that month-- doubling its previous numbers. And that was just the North American boost.

Well I think a lot of people felt when the Xbox One was first announced, that Titanfall came off as the premium game for the system. So I don't think it is unfounded that Xbox fans have seen Titanfall as a potential system seller. Especially if there is a system seller.

Now will the X1 outsell the PS4 on the week Titanfall comes out? I think for the X1's sake it should definitely do that haha. I mean this has been the prime title (at least until we get more on Halo 5) and it should push systems like a prime title. And if it doesn't well MS may want to start rethinking their marketing of the system and the $500 price.

What do I predict? Don't do that anymore so just being a tease. Will be watching the American market, though, very closely after this release.

LOL no, Infamous is close in pre-orders ,especially when you factor in europe. IF stagnant means doubling then x1 then...ok.  No one game is going to change much if anything except a 1-2 week temp jump.

According to Vgchartz MGS4 gave the PS3 a 95k boost in the US and a 65k boost in Japan during its launch week, no boost in Europe. The difference here is that MGS4 was supposed to be the finale of an already established, beloved IP. You had an already huge fanbase that was dying to see how the series would end, that and the game came about 1 1/2 years into the PS3s life, so the console already had a somewhat decent backlog, this game just gave many the final push to get the console.

With Titanfall I don't see it happening like that, will people buy the console for this game? Definitely. But will they all rush out and buy a console for it at release? I doubt it, a number of people will, but I'd be honestly surprised if it was 95k people in week one. I rather believe that people that don't already have a X1 will wait a couple weeks and maybe see how the feedback from players is that have the game, before they make a $560 decision like that. The backlog of the X1 is still too small for Titanfall to give it a MGS4-like push and Titanfall is at the end of the day still a new IP.

You guys convinced me. (I also forgot that Infamous was launching on the PS4 around the same time Titanfall was)

I fully expect TitanFall on Xbox One to completely crush the hopes and dreams of Sony fans who think the PS4 will actually be as relevant as the Xbox in America. Not happening as far as the dominant market for gaming goes.

But I'm going to have to agree with the OP, PS4 will launch in Japan next week and will be established for about a month when the Titan of gaming releases. It will be a close battle, but the PS4 will overcome adversity and win worldwide.
