Assuming you're talking about multiplayer..

- Learn the maps; spawn, vantage and choke points.
- Don't run around like a headless chicken.
- Wait for players to come to you.
- Learn when to rush / camp back.
- Watch how other people play.

Master strafing and if the game has the option, you should turn the controller sensitivity up for quicker aiming speed.

It will take you a while to get used to the quicker turning speed but once you do, you will have quite an advantage over the slower moving plebs.
