Forums - Sony - Pachter: Saying Sony Has "A Lot of First-Party Content Is a Stretch"

well if Patcher thinks they only have 30 first party games i think we can safely say any numbers we ever get from him are completely useless.

SCE punblished 105 PS1 games.  Im to lazy to count ps2 and 3 lol

- 136 PS2 games

- 153 PS3 games

- 10 PS4 games so far

Sony sure doesn't deliver on that field, them basterds...

EDIT: for the sake of the comparison

Microsoft:

- 58 Xbox games

- 67 X360 games

- 11 X1 games or something like that so far

Nintendo:

- 49 N64 games

- 57 GC games

- 77 Wii games

- 15 WiiU games

Total:

- Sony: 404 Games

- Microsoft: 136 Games

- Nintendo: 198 Games

- Microsoft + Nintendo: 334

Sony has 70 games more than those two put together. For a fairer comparison, let's take approximately the same time frame.

- Sony: 299 games

- Microsot: 136 games

- Nintendo: 149 games

- Microsoft + Nintendo: 285 games

Damn, fuck off Sony, release some games already!!

First party content is what he's saying here.... Published games doesn't necessarily mean they made it or own it. Just one example is mass effect. Microsoft published it. That is all.

By 30 games I think he means 30 franchises. Still, he is a massive idiot. Sony has a lot of good first titles and that not many people buy.

They're still games that are only available on their platform, so there's some kind of deal or involvement from either of the big 3. So what's the difference?

But still, if you want first party content, I'll do it just for the previous generation because I have better things to do.

- Sony: 127 games on PS3

- Microsoft: 57 games on X360

- Nintendo: 74 games on Wii

- Microsoft + Nintendo: 131 games

Still want to hold that argument?

But you shouldn't just go by published... Nintendo published ninja gaiden on the wiiu, they also published some old square titles too, and others I can't think of off the top of my head... I just came home from a 12 hour shift, so I'm surprised I even thought of those...

yes,  being lazy im not going to go through them all..  but it would be safe to say atleast half of thoseare first party.  thats being pretty conservative.   thats still about 7 times as much as patcher says lol.  he either doesnt know what PS now is about, or is clueless about how many titles sony have made.

I am Torgo, I take care of the place while the master is away.

"Hes the clown that makes the dark side fun.. Torgo!"

Ha.. i won my bet, but i wasnt around to gloat because im on a better forum!  See ya guys on Viz

I have a question, is it me or does Pachter simply not understand what PS Now is supposed to do?

PS Now is supposed to be a service that delivers older games, it's not supposed to be for new PS4 games, right? I ask this because he first said that publishers wouldn't want to let Sony put their newest games on the service, which they pretty much don't want to do anyway.

Or did I misunderstand the idea of PS Now?

I will repeat this as long as people finally understand. The bandwidth has absolutely nothing to do with delay through the internet. It just dictates how much the video stream has to be compressed. You can have a ten gigabit connection and you will still notice the lag. People who use anything but terrestrial connections will have even higher lag. It is an interactive videostream and it cannot be compared to normal online play where only major delays influence personal gameplay. We're talking about actual and direct input lag. That cannot be eradicated. Not now and not in 10 years.

People were paying 40 bucks for collections with graphical updates and trophies, not just to play an old game.

Eurogamer did some stuff a while ago with Gaikai showing it was possible to stream a game on a stranded ADSL connection with the same input lag as that of local play (133ms on bulletstorm). Of course they are going to run into other problems since they can't change the architecture much from that of the PS3 or risk incompatibilities, but as a proof of concept it showed it can be done. I doubt PSNow is going to be overly lag free at launch, but as time goes on it should improve to the point of being negligible.

Those people are paying £40 for a HD collection. Do you really and honestly believe someone willing to pay that for 2/3 games HD remakes wouldn't pay the same once a year for a library potentially spanning every one of the PS1, PS2 and PS3's SCE exclusives along with any third party games that may come along? That's not just old classics, eventually that will be Uncharted, LBP, TLOU, R&C, inFamous etc.

I have little doubt there will be trophies to many games, and emulating PS2 games in HD is hardly a complicated feat for a dedicated server. 500k people were willing to buy the rather buggy HD remake of R&C so i don't think they will mind the occasional emulation hiccup :P

Pachter is a Xbox faithful and seems to try and shit on Nintendo and Sony any chance he gets normally with "analyst and predictions" that are 100% wrong.  he has no credibility with me and alot of gamers i know that follow this stuff.  how he still has a job i have no clue, and i feel sorry for those that listen to him.  hes a joke!!!!  lets name the sony titles,

Complete list of owned Ips

yea they dont have enough ips my ass!!!!!

these are franchises and ips owned wholey by Sony.  If i missed somethign or somethign has changed let me know.

god i would love a whole new Wildarms and wheres PS home on my ps4

Damn, some people instantly jump into defensive mode... Published doesn't mean exclusive always, like I said in another post, look at mass effect. Publishe by ms, but not made or owned or ultimately exclusive. So yeah, I will hold onto that argument. Now relax a little bit, it will be ok.

Did you even read what I wrote as an answer or you just assumed something and answered based on that assumption? I totally understand and agree on what you said, but in my last answer are the number of games DEVELOPED by either Sony, Nintendo and Microsoft, not just published, but developed by them. And still they barely get over Sony when put together.

Ps. Afaik ME1 never made it to Wii or PS3, and don't count that 30min joke as ME1 being available on PS3. So ultimately, yea, it was console exclusive to X360.

Anyway I'm done with this, feel free to answer.

Well when you say "do you still want to hold that argument" how does that mean you agree? And yes, mass effect is on the ps3, in the mass effect TRILOGY.... So not exclusive anymore.
