Just curious since I am only 105 points away from reaching it.
Thanks.

You get a special free gift from Nintendo. I got the soundtrack to Ocarina of Time 3D a couple years back. Missed it last year, but I'm getting it again this year. Wonder what it'll be.
come summer gold n' platinum members get free gifts. platinum members get more to choose from.

They announce a selection of prizes that only Platinum members can get each year. Last time, I got a Majora's Mask soundtrack CD. The time before that, I got Majora's Mask. Can't remember what I got before that or if I was even a Plat member.
If this guy didn't stop me mid-post, I would have been the first reply. Damn job! I'm already platinum for 2014 so I'll probably save my codes for next year.
Sweet! Hopefully it is something super badass for 2014.
Thanks everyone for the quick replies.

Platinum Status?
Sign up for a Club Nintendo account and register up to 600 coins worth of games/surveys/etc... by the end of June each year.

...surely you know about Club Nintendo?
I'm a bit surprised you don't...well anyway, what you do is register any eligible Nintendo products, and take a survey on why you bought the product. Nintendo rewards you with "coins". You can get a few more coins a week after registering if you take a "post-play suvery" on what you liked and disliked. Once you have enough coins, you can exchange them for rewards. Poster sets, t-shirts, digital game downloads, and rarely some really cool stuff like a golden nunchuck to go with the golden Skyward Sword Wiimote. At the end of June, if you've collected 300 coins or 600 coins during that year, you get Gold and Platinum status, respectively. Members with Gold or Platinum status get a free gift. Platinum members have access to a really special gift that Gold members don't. I find the Platinum rewards tend to be indisputably better than the Gold ones, and the Gold tend to be indisputably better than 99% of anything in the normal reward section. So it's very worth doing, especially if you buy a lot of Nintendo stuff anyway.
By the way, if you get Platinum do you only get the Platinum gift choice or do you also get the Gold gift choice as well?

Just reached gold Status myself. Although I threw out my pin insert for my 3ds Xl I purchased last summer :(. I actually sent Nintendo an email today requesting they give me coins for it since I still registered the serial number. We'll see how that goes
