It's pretty hard to be a Sony fan right now, I mean the company has a 79% chance of going bankrupt in 2 years or whatever the number was. The PS4 may be winning this gen but Sony isn't doing too hot. Nintendo is pretty bad too, The WiiU is dead last this gen and Iwata's blowing every cent they made on the Wii all while telling everyone to "please understand". Microsoft on the other hand makes more money than God, so they're in a pretty safe position. Unless Windows gets banned in the US they have nothing to worry about. Unfortunately even with tons and tons of cash they're still stuck in 2nd place. Microsoft is getting beat by a company about to go bankrupt, that's just embarassing. It's like getting beat up by a one-handed cripple. 

Microsoft is being beaten by people that don't know the difference between PlayStation and a videogame console and a Japanese crowd that's hard to crack.

It's hard to be a fan of any of them because the whole gaming industry is in a decline.

Its a bad time for Sony, lets hope they can bounce back like apple did.

It's definitely harder to be a Sony fan because it is emotionally exhausting for me to pity the other two fanbases this much.

Even if Sony goes bankrupt, I'm fairly sure someone will surely buy the SCE division - the PlayStation brand and all studios and stuff. "Sony" will be dead, but alive. Makes no sense.

Edit: I ended up not answering the OP: it's not really hard to be a fan of any of the three, as all of them make games with a fairly high frequency. If someone is a fan of the company, it's because of the games, and they deliver it. Microsoft is completely stable, Nintendo is not going anywhere and neither is Sony because of the reason above. So there you go.
