Forums - Gaming - Nintendo's Problems are it's Fanboys!

Nintendo's problem is not enough fanboys. Sony has an army and MS has mainstream appeal+ad money+(at one time) price advantage. Sony could release a turd on a stick and still sell PS4 numbers. The Nintendo fanboys have already bought the U, that pool has dried up. Sony and MS fanboys are buying their consoles in record numbers despite lack of new and exclusive experiences just as a way to get a head start on the console war.

Nintendo could release a console 2x as powerful as PS4 with definitive versions of all 3rd party games and you would get the same people championing 1080p 60fps saying that they will stick with their company even if there versions are inferior.

People that own the U are mostly general gamers, they probably have a PS3 or 360 and only the fanboys will buy the multiplat games on the U despite those games usually being the ones with the least effort and features. Just like the Wii they want to see how much crap the owners will put up with and just like last gen, the garbage efforts sold like garbage. Nintendo doesnt have enough fanboys to buy the shit efforts and therefore its not worth 3rd parties to make any effort.

edit: He also mentions that Nintendo fanboys are no longer but XBO fanboys. I doubt there is more than a dozen on the internet.

Getting an XBOX One for me is like being in a bad relationship but staying together because we have kids. XBone we have 20000+ achievement points, 2+ years of XBL Gold and 20000+ MS points. I think its best we stay together if only for the MS points.

Nintendo Treehouse is what happens when a publisher is confident and proud of its games and doesn't need to show CGI lies for five minutes.

Resident Hazard used to post here, i think.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

People buy the PS4/XB1 because they have trust that those systems will have tons of third party support and will have the full variety of games that they enjoy without "please understand" excuses being made.

That's why the PS4/XB1 can sell quickly out of the gates, that and people were sick and tired of their 360/PS3 since the last gen went on so long (good thing Nintendo brings out ... another 360/PS3 level system ... something literally no one asked for).

Not sure I agree. Not completely, at any rate.

On the one hand, the people being described here do exist. And they do (anectdotally) buy Nintendo games almost exclusively. And they may actually be the problem the article says they are. But the reason these people exist is that Nintendo cultivated them.

Blaming the consumer because of their buying habits is placing the blame in the wrong place. Rather Nintendo, by appealing primarily to these consumers, are ones who created this problem.

It's not the consumer's responsibility to change to better suit a company. Nintendo dug themselves in, and Nintendo needs to dig themselves back out.

Why would anyone buy a gimped version that's more expensive?
It's not Wii era anymore where they can release shovelwares to fund their half HD games.

That's something that's certainly overlooked. There'll be no more Game Party to shore up 2K's finances, for instance.

Sounds like you summed up Bayonetta 2 just nicely.

I'll make a summary of the article for you guys!

1. The main problem seems to be that Nintendo fans don't buy enough third party support. That gives the signal to third parties that Nintendo's systems are not a platform where they should make games.

2.He also says that buying a Nintendo console for Nintendo games alone is being a close minded person. 3.He also seems to dislike Pokemon, Mario and Zelda and enjoys third party games on Nintendo's systems. He is kind of an odd ball if you ask me.

4.In conclusion he thinks that Nintendo's current situation is not by Nintendo itself but because of it's fanboys.

Well...

1. I Agree.

2. I also agree, there are some that don't even give them a chance to those games, or don't recommend them even if those are good, but a few of us are trying to change that: http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=175584

3. Everyone has its tastes, I enjoy both 1st party and 3rd party efforts

4. I partially agree, the fans are part of the fault, but the company (specially in USA) should be a little more agressive looking for support, like they are doing with the indie teams.

I completely agree with that. Nintendo's problems are self inflicted, not because of it's fans.

The company is to blame not the consumer.

"I've Underestimated the Horse Power from Mario Kart 8, I'll Never Doubt the WiiU's Engine Again"

Have they ever considered that maybe what Nintendo's problems are is the fact that the media keeps on bashing on Nintendo?

Exactly.

It's possible, probable even, that the problem is exactly as the article describes. But it's Nintendo that has the problem, and they need to fix it.
