Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo wouldn't be losing money if they had the Sony/Microsoft monthly online fee

They could do something like PS+ the way Sony *was* doing PS+. For the features offered, i cannot see Nintendo getting away with charging for online multiplayer. It would feel like them abusing the loyal fans and decreasing sales potential for absolutely critical games like Super Smash Bros and Mario Kart 8

The moment they do that is the moment I quit console gaming. You're a sap if you're actually willing to pay extra for the same internet.

That's just silly. Online multiplayer is a service that's delivered over the internet, not the internet itself. Are people also saps for paying for Netflix, Hulu, Crackster, Music and Video Unlimited, website hosting, porn, advertisements, skype, etc. ? Sure if you think the services aren't worth the cost. Not because they're paying "extra for the same internet."

If the internet was like a highway system, PS+ and GOLD are not toll roads. They're destinations that charge for admission.

That would suck. Who wants to pay to play Mario Kart online?

But it wouldn't be anywhere near as popular as Xbox Live and PS Plus. However if I were them I'd do it anyway but charge $3 a month.

I can't believe the number of posters that don't bother to read the first post and assume it's about Nintendo charging for mandatory online service with the same level of service it provides right now. You're making yourselves look like real dumbasses right now.

No. It's not the same as paying for streaming servises. To you see people on PC paying for online multiplayer? No. Why? Because it's bogus.

But then... Even more people wouldn't buy the wiiU

LOL...(off topic alert) , a hope we get new haruhi anime soon.

problem being the WiiU will be like the Wii a second system to the real next gen systems, for alot they buy the WiiU for offline games so i would probably guestimate at least half if not 75% wouldnt buy the online part, and it would probably turn more people off the system, why would one pay them 50$ to play online when they can get a ps4 or x1 and do the same.

Nintendo doesn't even have any games with online multiplayer. Charging for it would be absolutely ridiculous. I'm not convinced Nintendo is even aware that the Wii U has any online functionality...

Can I play NES, SNES, N64, DS, and Game Boy back catalog games on my PS4/X1 for a couple of bucks a month?
