Will never happen. They won't fuse, instead they will wait for the other to start selling their ip and then buy whatever ip they feel is best for them.
The hardware fusion days died when Nintendo and Sony failed at doing so back in 1993.

Don't know if Sony is going to have hardware for next gen. Maybe they just go PS NOW.

I seriously doubt Sony will attempt another handheld, 'fusion' or otherwise, after the trainwreck that is Vita - all the more considering the horrible financial situation they're in, and have been in for years on end.
