$8 million for that! :0 :0 They were hardly promoting their own products.

Really? I don't see how Rockets into space and Robot leg replacement isn't something on every household shopping list? I guess it is more a reminder that microsoft have software which is probably in pretty much most things you'll use from day to day and for people to remember their importance. Heck the self service checkouts at our Tesco store run a modified windowsXP OS, couldn't live without it.

True, but I mean $8 million is A LOT! They had a whole minute and could have used that to promote Surface, windows 8 mobile/tablet, xbox, office and anything else.

8million is nothing really for Microsofts advertising department tho, they dropped close to half a billion advertising Kinect on the 360

this was proven wrong years ago.

smh, this will be around forever.

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...

Phenomenal commercial. This is why Microsoft continues to be my favorite company.

Was to put it in context, if they were willing to put forward anywhere close to that amount on a single piece of Microsoft hardware then 8million for a TV spot advertising their brand as a whole on what is the most watched show in the US is absolutely a drop in the ocean to their finances.

@bold http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/forum-rules.php#content number 14. This isn't twitter or imgur there is no 140 character limit here. Maybe it's just the people I find using that certain acronym... I just hope myself it doesn't become as common place as lol... which I infact use all the time.

Promoting your brand for long-term positive perception is more important than promoting current products by far.

Though I get what you're saying, I think in that sense you can justify any ad, no matter how bad it is. I personally thought it wasn't a good investment. It simply wasn't a good enough ad. Apple, on the other hand, has some amazing ads for their brand (though I stll refuse to buy anything apple related).

lol you do realize you are saying that Microsofts ad was worse than Apples because Apple showed off their products, but at the same time you wouldn't buy anything with the Apple brand on it because you associate that brand with bad stuff in general? :D

Maybe Apple should have just had a minute long advert were they showed some of the child workers at foxconn getting their Pay tokens or a crowd of hipsters all gathered around an Macbook Air, the things most people think of when you see the brand logo of Apple.

I don't like apple as a company and the whole isheep culture. Ads have nothing to do with it. No matter how good they are, they won't change my mind. It's not because of their ads that I don't like them, so I don't see your point. I believe in giving credit where it's due. Apple makes great ads, that's all.

Also, I'm not the average consumer, as I never watch tv live. So, they're not targeting people like me. Maybe for the people they are targeting, it's a good ad, I just don't see it.

I thought the McDonald's commercial was very well done.

Fucking atheist all those were god given gifts not some take-no-logic

Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.
