cant hand out resume's at night :P

Alright, but I mean come on, do you really think people with jobs actually sit around and wait for their Xbox Live to expire before adding more? No, we plan and have it for at least a year ahead. Hell I have it until 9/2016 just because I bought 2 twelve months for $70 last year. That's less than a tank of gas for me. But if I did lose my job, I wouldn't be sitting around playing Xbox, even at night I'd be filling out applications or sleeping because I have an interview in the morning.

My original post said itll effect a minimal amount of people.  there are circumstances that could lead to the scenario but very very few will.  But it is possible.  maybe the kids example is a better one where a punishment takes away live but not the console and games.  This isnt something that will pop up as a problem though lol  and hell its kinda like buying sporting gear.  I can pay hundredss for skis, but i still need to pay to use the lifts, and if i couldnt afford the lift ticket.. then im stuck with ski's and nothing to do lol

True, but it would still be hard for a kid to not get Live on their birthday AND christmas if they need it. They'd have to really be a bad kid, which shouldn't be on Live in the first place so it all works out.

actually you would be surprised how many parents just dont get gaming or have some kind of paranoya complex with keeping kids away from online games.  Its actually rather sad...   and then there are the parents who are just plain cheap.. lol

I am Torgo, I take care of the place while the master is away.

"Hes the clown that makes the dark side fun.. Torgo!"

Ha.. i won my bet, but i wasnt around to gloat because im on a better forum!  See ya guys on Viz

You can't rent PC games.

OnLive proved that you can :D

Touche.

You're renting Titanfall no more than you are renting the MP portion of BF4, Killzone, CoD, etc. Not at all the same as PS+ where your games are picked for you and you have access so long as you pay. I can be a Gold member in 2017 and still not have access to Titanfall if the servers go offline.

We're gonna have to get some M.A.G. player's take on what it's like to own an online game with no online support.

who even plays MAG? seriously? :D

Ya know...for a game that most people on this site "dont care for", Ive seen so many threads trying to downplay it. People dont normally spend so much time discussing the things they dont care for do they?

i care for it i have it preordered on PC, i just wanted to know if people are ready for not owning games anymore, this is just the start.

Ok and if you dont pay for Internet then you cant play it on PC. Honestly tell me, who would have an Xbox One without Live? We know what we're getting into, its not going to be a surprise when we cant play Titanfall without a connection. We're not in the stone ages. But still, thanks for your concern for us getting the game on Xbox consoles. :D

I dont have an issue with renting i rent a lot, but your right to some extent its a rental on PC as well, one day the dedicated servers will be gone and without a Peer to Peer Patch, it will be a coaster.

Im in a camp that rarely goes back to old games, even tho i have a massive collection there is always something new to play, thats why i love the rental subscription market.

So with Titan fall online only and having to pay to play online, its technically the MMO business model, of paying for the game and paying to play.

Are you ok with this, as i know alot of people think PSN plus is bad because its a glorified rental service and you never own anything. Do you feel the same about Titan Fall or are you willing to make an exception.

Also EA with there tendancy to kill of game servers pretty quick, you could end up with a coaster in 3-4 years?

Are you ready for this brave new world of ownership?

Mate, you need to be calm.  So the Xbox One has a big exclusive coming.  The PS4 has Infamous 2, and they'll both have big exclusives in the future.

Drawing tenuous links to business models that are entirely unrelated makes you look nervous, not informed.

Also, as I understand it, the Titanfall games are hosted free on MS servers for the life of the console.  As you point out, Titanfall could cease to be available in 3-4 years - though I can say confidentaly that this would only be because one of two things happened:

1.  Titanfall 2 (or even 3) has come out and everyone is playing that (I mean, who is still playing Halo 2 or Gears of War 2 since their predecessors released?); or

2.  Titanfall bombed hard and no-one is playing it at all, in which case, no one will care.

People bought Warhawk for PS3 didn't they?  And this game looks a lot better than that, with far better server support.

Thanks for worrying about my mental state, but im fine mate, as ive said i have this game on pre order, i also have infamous 2 on pre order looking forward to both.

This is not an attack on xbox, if this game was on PS4 it would be suffering the same rental problems.

And i have no trouble with the idea of renting i think PS plus is fantastic. But i know alot are against it that have also said there getting Titan Fall even tho its exactly the same, its and Xbox live gold rental.

But it isn't exactly the same, not at all?

Games drop off PS Plus.  If you decided not to purchase Live for six months, you could still go back and play Titanfall when you pick up live again later on...

Yup exactly the same then, you pick up your plus sub again you can play all your downloaded games again and re download them even.

If the game is popular enough and when the servers are eventually taken offline... (It's not a matter of if, but when, nothing lasts forever!)
Then PC gamers will more than likely to still be able to play it, history is littered with games that had their online modes disabled, so the games were modified and servers set-up. (Freelancer being a prime example and all those games you can run on top of Hamachi.)

So no, if in a hypothetical world where I decided to actually buy an EA game not on Steam, I wouldn't be renting it. :)

Titanfall will change gaming or have you not heard?

I'll be playing on PC. There's no additional sub fees that I'm unaware of, right?

An interesting concept and if anything, just highlights a huge flaw in the industry at the moment. One that while they make money is good for them but it'll hurt them in the long run. The idea that you are buying a game but can only use certain features if you pay more seems ridiculous. If all those features are online and you need to pay more to play at all it is even more of a joke. Much to the reason why I never understood subscriptions for MMOs, i wouldn't pay that sort of money.

Yet at the same time, in say 2004, a MMORPG with a subscription service wasn't seen as a bad thing, it was expected because you get use of the servers.

Hmm, pie.
