Forums - Gaming - The Xbox One has won the launch at my dormatory

What exactly is wrong about basing a launch purchase on launch window games? These are the games people will be playing the most over the next year or so. The alternative is to buy now based on hypotheticals and list wars, or wait on purchasing altogether.

Should a large group of friends who are loving the shit out of Killer Instinct or DR3 not buy the console because maybe eventually PS4 might have better theoretical games they might be able to potentially play in the future? And that's not even getting into genres and different franchises. If they love KI, what game on the horizon could they maybe weigh in for on PS4? Injustice sucks, is there anything else coming? So they should not game now because maybe Sony might one day reveal Super Playstation All-Stars Royal Rumble 2?

lol

I'm genuinely curious as to why so many of your dormmates feel as if they need a new console at launch. Isn't it the worst time to purchase a console? Especially since consoles tend to be more of a long-term investment.

Caue of the gams present at launch .  i got my xbpx one first due to ryse, ki, forza, dead rising and ac black flag. there was enough for me to justify buying. i got ps4 mainly for kz and the exclusives that will come out

Its pretty much universally agreed upon that this is a stupid way of deciding things. But for some reason in this scenario its perfectly fine. thats mine and fox point

Nothing wrong but it isnt ideal (which is our point) before each system launch both sides pulled the "launch games arent a reason to buy a console anyway"

as for your second question, there is no waiting or list war that needs to happen. Just some discussion and research. The games for the next year are known and what they will be. Focusing on a couple of titles is just strange.

Face the fact,,ps4 is not god and def not the best gaming console that causes people to jizz in their pants. Its like a like ps with new plastic surgery to enhance its power. Accept teh fact that there people who love xbox me included who will buy the console first over ps4 even though we have to pay 100 bucks more and we those choices of games. There are people who can afford ot buy xbox one or both which is even better as you get best of both worlds. its okay to admit you are huge fanboy of sony which i am guessing you will deny the fact. Finally ,,if you are a true gamer as you claim to be, then you would accept whatever people game on adn enjoy the games that come to your consoles. If you can't even do that ,, then i am sorry to say you are not a gamer,, just another justin bieber :P

How is it stupid ?? do elaborate.  xbox one launches with more AAA exclusives compared to 2 and the rest indies.  I rather buy a machine with lotsof quality with AAA exclusives then a machine with only 2 average ones and the rest really short indie games. More value for money.  Plus did you ever think those who buy xbox oneat launch would hav love teh games that MS brought in for the xbox 0? did you ever think that coudl be a possibility . heck di dyou ever think teh amount exclusives game they showed at last E could have been the deciding factor as they showed alotof games compared to indie indie indie indie for ps4 ? lol

Are you even following this discussion? I never once said they made a bad decision. I never once said they should chose ps4 instead. Seriously, take the blinders off. Its simple, when a conglomeration is deciding to buy then more than one night with launch titles should be the basis of the purchase.

Might not be ideal for you. Idk, are you one of the twenty or so people in this supposed dorm buying supposed Xbox Ones? I don't think so. I won't buy a console if it has a shit lineup, regardless of the hypothetical potential of the console. If I spend $400-500 on a console, I want to be entertained day one so I will buy the one that currently has the most games I want to play. Hence, I will buy an Xbox One first. If it weren't for games like Forza, Ryse, DR3, KI, and of course Titanfall, I wouldn't buy the console and would wait for either to have a good enough lineup.

So these guys supposedly found that "good enough" lineup already. There's nothing wrong with jumping in rather than thinking "oh well hey maybe sony might have some other game in store down the road!" and waiting. It's not rocket science. There is nothing Sony has (announced anyway) in the oven that would compete with Killer Instinct. They have nothing in the oven to compete with Dead Rising 3. That's just the two games the OP mentioned.

If a movie is in theaters that looks interesting to me, I will go see it instead of thinking hey maybe something better will come out in 6 months. Consoles are a little different as the investment is a lot larger, but the logic remains. You want a console right now, nothing wrong with picking what they supposedly believe is the better lineup right now.
