Just as Sony isn't doing everything the same as they did last gen, neither is Microsoft. The repeated comments about the future game prospects being better for the PS4 is just wishful thinking for the Sony faithful. We have no idea which console will have the better or more diverse lineup in 3 or 5 years time. In fact, we have no idea which games will turn out to be great either. There are factors that make it more likely, but that's it.

So choosing a launch system because of launch games ISN'T stupid. If you're going to buy it at launch then you obviously want to enjoy it at launch. If not, you would just wait. There's nothing wrong with what S.T.A.G.E.'s dormmates are doing here. In fact, it shows how the normal world outside of these nutty forums behaves.

It's logical thinking.

X1 has more games at launch but it also has more critical flops. This comes with the territory of trying to make diverse games like Sony. Sony always had a flop or 2 and they chopped down on those studios for the most part after awhile.

We know that Sony can pull ahead. And the games that are most talked about right now on X1 are 3rd party games that were supposed to be on PS4( Dead Rising and Titanfall)

So i would argue that it's just logical reasoning that Sony will eventually pull ahead from what we know

We'll just have to wait and see

What critical flops?

Critical acclaim

Power Star Golf

Ryse

Zoo Tycoon

Crimson Dragon

Halo: Spartan Assault

@max okay but wheres teh figures for xbox one?? you can't assume that theres a gap of 150k based on taht since MS has not confirmed or mentioned teh amount sold in Spain. Even if were to take your prediction and add to the difference total so far, it only comes to 740,000k and if were to add Australia into th emix which we know Ms sold teh most with 70,000k while sony fell slightly short the difference is only 730 k for the territories in which both consoles are in. That still leaves 800,000 k consoles unaccounted for. Explain that ?

Wow this thread was pretty calm on topic, then blew up into a vs thread how sad =(

Are you saying this is a surprise? It's VGChartz the internet.

@max i never said UK was a bigger market then US. I was including the two big market taht sells alot of consoles . Atm its UK and US . Yea US is the biggest market yet the difference is only 130k lol. If i would to break down to very specific by including the otehr markets where both are avialble ,, i am pretty sure the difference won't even touch 1 million as countries, like germany , spain , austrailia , nz and so ,, sell very little consoles unlike the two mentioned above. Check vgchartz if you don't beleive me. PS4 in europe sold 1.8 million which includes all the territories in Europe. Out of taht over 600k went to UK alone so yes UK is the second biggest market after US.

For your entertainment ,, let me break up into the very specifics since you can't read. As mentioned before the difference in total for both US and UK is 322,476 k.

In germany the difference is 144,075
in france the difference is : 130542

If you add teh totals yyou will get 597093
Thats still 1mil unaccounted for . Do explain that lol.

Why are you using year end yotals to try to end up with current total gap? you realize the gaps grown for the last 4 weeks. thats why your numbers arent adding up.

The mere mention that someone is getting an Xbox One is making some of these posters hot as fuck. Is this why some of you got into gaming? This is quite ridiculous

the mere mention of maybe educating people on some of the difference between the two consoles that people outside of the forum world might not know about is making some posters hot as fuck. quite ridiculous

Power Star Golf

Zoo Tycoon

Crimson Dragon

and that bike game

From what I have heard from people here who bought those games they are enjoying them. I have not heard anything about the bike game though.

On that list I have bought Ryse at launch and recently got Crimson Dragon and Power Star Golf on sale for $15 each from Xbox Live Marketplace.

i was using the total sales sold in UK , US , Germany, France since launch until now as teh gap between the two consoles is based on that . Once i obtained the sales for both consoles in those regions ,, i just subtract the two to find the difference. For example in US for pS4 teh total sales from launch till now is 2,194,794 million and teh total sales of xbox one from launch till now is 2.064,549. If you subtract you get the difference in which the ps4 is ahead. I did teh same with UK, Germany and France. Nice try though

Other than hyping up indies non stop, which is Sony as usual being late for the party and hyping up something which popular has come and mostly has gone, and not creating an overpriced system, what is Sony actually doing different?

Here's a side by side comparison about how the first year looks like it's going to turn out for PS4 and how it turned out for the PS3.

-2006:  Resistance 2013:  Killzone Shadow Fall
-2006:  Genji Days of the Blade 2013:  Knack
-2006:  Untold Legends Dark Kingdom  2013:  Resogun
-2006:  NBA 08

-Early 2007:  Motorstorm Early 2014:  Drive Club  (Same dev too.)
-Early 2007:  Formula One Championship  Early 2014 Infamous Second Son
-Early 2007:  MLB The Show Early 2014:  MLB The Show

-Late 2007:  The Eye of Judgment  Late 2014:  Some Move game.  Maybe.
-Late 2007:  SingStar
-Late 2007:  NBA 08
-Late 2007:  Uncharted  Late 2014:  The Order 1866
-Late 2007:  Working on The Last Guardian.  Late 2014:  Working on The Last Guardian

Sony, just like last gen, even more so than last gen, is pretty much doing nothing.  They're instead putting all their effort on PS3 games, just like they did the previous gen with PS2 games.  The same year the PS3 came out, many big first party games were released, after the PS3 launched, many big first party PS2 released.  The exact same thing goes for the PS4 and PS3.

This doesn't mean that Microsoft is going to do the same and stop supporting the Xbox One as much in the next few years, but I just wanted to point out that Sony is pretty much doing the exact same as they've done last gen.  It took them over a year to start actually supporting the system.

However, if you take into the account that Microsoft is paying for exclusives, just like they did at the beginning of last gen.  I'm sure it 's a lot of money to pay for exclusives as the publisher probably wants to make the same amount of money they'd make on the other console plus development costs.  So for each exclusive that they're purchasing, they're probably losing money if it doesn't meet the estimated numbers.  If it does reach estimated numbers, they don't make much at all, it just gets people interested in the console.  In that sense, Microsoft may still do the same.  Stop paying for exclusives and just release Halo, Gears, Forza, and Fable every year.
