What's wrong with your Excel 2003?
Oooh, shiny colours. I like them
. Well, all but the PS4 one. That orange ... I don't like it.
Other than that, great month. Lots of points and games, and I'm surprised that S-E has passed Sony. I wasn't expecting that.
I also like the genre label, although that's something that will give you troubles with some games. X as a JRPG? If it's anything like Xenoblade, it will be more like a mid-point game between Japanese and Western RPG.
Lastly, thanks for your job Salnax.
Please excuse my bad English.

Awesome. Nintendo and the Wii U seem more popular than what I would think. I guess we can say that X could be a system seller. Also, no mention of indies? Aww men.
Other than that, this was a great thread!
Bet with bluedawgs: I say Switch will outsell PS4 in 2018, he says PS4 will outsell Switch. He's now permabanned, but the bet will remain in my sig.

Nintendo and JRPG fans (and Nintendo JRPG fans) gone mad this month, I see.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

I think that more users than usual joined the site during the holidays. I'm one of them.

3 of my 5 were in the top 4. XD
Oh dear, it seems my reputation as a hipster is in danger, I am becoming... mainstream! D:

The shiny colors have actually been a part of this feature since early 2012! They just never left my laptop. Excel 2003 didn't like carrying them over to Firefox. As for the orange, the system was already in place where Blue = Nintendo, Reddish colors = Sony, Green = Xbox, and PC = Yellow. Of the default color options left, orange was the best compromise between being distinct and being a flavor of red available.
Square Enix had a surprisingly good month. Much of it came from a single source: Final Fantasy X/X-s HD on the Vita. That accounted for 17 points of the 25 point increase. Some last-minute hype for Lightning Returns didn't hurt either.
Genres are rarely easy to assign, though I wouldn't consider X to be a prime example of a difficult one. It's an open world RPG, but those were a staple of JRPG's back in the 80's (Final Fantasy 2 being my most loathed example.) And action elements are not exclusive to WRPG's either. Hydlide, Zelda 2, Mana, etc. were all fairly big names early on in Japanese RPG's. Sure, Final Fantasy X and XIII were corridor simulators, but that's more of a Square Enix thing than a JRPG thing.
It was my pleasure!

Should I get Vita as well? Do those qualify as alternative these days?

You know how some software comes with a 20 or 25 digit code that you have to get right in order to install it?
Well, my computer had a near-death experience from Sunday through Tuesday. Long story short, I saved all of my documents and files, but had to reinstall almost every program. And sometime since mid-2010, the last time I needed it, I lost the 25 digit code for Excel 2003.
Since Wednesday, I've been using some free software made by a Chinese company called Kingsoft. Basically, they give a clone of Microsoft Office circa ten years ago as a hook to make you buy their main product that's still cheaper than Microsoft Office. Thing is, their demo is almost as good as the software I've become accustomed to for the past decade, meaning I have little incentive to actually spend money on Office software at the moment.

Buying a PlayStation-brand product is only alternative if it's a phone.
How about this: spend some time playing one of those Early Access Survival MMO's on Steam, and you'll get your hipster cred back ASAP!
