Nintendo is currently thinking and planning on localizing games outside of Japan.

“Nintendo is working on the right balance of localizing Japan-oriented games just enough so that foreign audiences can enjoy them,” The Wall Street Journal reports. Iwata believes that the situation is ultimately “all about balance.”

Iwata also said that, at the development stage, Nintendo must “work even more closely with the U.S. team,” to ensure that preferences in the states are considered. The US is an important region for the company, as 40 to 50 percent of its sales originate from the territory.

This sounds like good news for fans of Japanese games and will create a bigger variety of games throught the globe.

why don't they just form EAD North America

I was hoping for one as well... but maybe Feburary? 

I'm thinking they're waiting for some of the storms to settle. They did go through a lot this month with financials.

Fun Fact: Back when Square Enix was known as SquareSoft, Xenosaga was made from inspiration of Final Fantasy (in a way). Monolith Soft was created by former employees of SquareSoft, which made Xenoblade Chronicles. So in a way, Xeno series is an altered and different version of Final Fantasy series.

It could happen, but Nintendo would have to really push it and it would need to increase its sales to match the extra push.

Western centric games are 2 or 3 years away then. To late for this gen but success and or failure could indicate what they may do next gen if they enter it or stay out side it.

And add a few hundred million a year of operating expenses for what return?
