Forums - Microsoft - Titanfall is Xbox exclusive because EA thought that Xbox One would sell more than PS4

"I think you should assume that we made that decision when it was back a few years ago when we decided to go exclusive," explained EA's Chief Financial Officer Blake Jorgensen when asked if the deal with Microsoft for Titanfall's exclusivity would offset potential sales the game could have had if released on PlayStation.

"We had some forecast at that time from where we thought both Xbox and PlayStation would be and that's what we based our decision on. I think we're still feeling very comfortable with that," he said.

it's already been posted I think.

Well they were wrong. I wouldn't have gotten Titanfall even if it was on PS4, and I had a PS4.

This was posted, like... 6 months ago.

Yep.

And the explanation doesn't make sense when they knew the PS3 install base would be much bigger than Xbone and PS4's combined.

Duplicate post.

Face palm gif for EA.

But the real reason was M$.

I wouldn't be comfortable with it....i don't think it's going to be the system seller they're wanting....I want the game, but I'm going to get it on my PC....and i think PC gaming is becoming much more prevelant and standing alongside console gaming as of late as far as people playing goes.

CURRENTLY PLAYING:  Warframe, Witcher 2

I said it before and I will say it again.

"Let's cut the BS.......MS paid for it. Simple."

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

Nowhere in there does it say EA thought Xbox One would sell more.

They could have thought the two would be exactly where they are right now and that the money sent by MS would offset any potential losses incurred by skipping the $ony platforms.

They could have thought the PS4 would be 3 million ahead by now for all we know. The value that matters 99.9% in this equation is how much MS paid them, and we don't know that one.
