Forums - Sony - Do you think Sony fixed or will fix the DS4 with future shipments?

what needs to be fixed?

I hope quality control improves a bit. I got 2 pads in the box with my PS4, one of them is fantastic, the other one has an annoyingly clicky D-pad.

I've heard nothing about this. However, if its a real problem, they'll fix it. They swapped the SIXAXIS for the DS3 and MS swapped the original 360 controller for one with a better D-Pad. There's a precedent so I assume it will be fixed sooner or later.

The reason they swapped out Sixaxis for DS3 is because they were being sued by the patent holders for failure to pay royalties. Once that was cleared up they could once again use Rumble on their controllers. The original lied and said that it would interfere with the motion sensing of Sixaxis.

Do a search and you will see that this is a known issue. On N4G there is an article from before and after Sony admitted to the issue and the responses are typical. Before posters had no issue nor had they ever heard anything, much like the responses here, and after the same members wer experiencing those issues but it was no big deal. It honestly doesnt matter if they fix it or not.

Yeah, I knew about the DS3 thing. As for the second paragraph, I guess it's similar to when people said the 3DS bottom screen was putting horizontal scratches on the top screen.  Never effected me and I didn't think it really existed until I saw it happen to my daughter's 3ds.  Still wasn't that big of a deal to me, though.  I;ll take your word for it.

Another example was when Nintendo sent out those rubber sleaves for the Wii Remote.  It wasn't really a problem either but enough people complained so they tried to solve the problem before it  became a big deal.

I know about 10 people with PS4s and not one with a pad problem of any kind, i wouldnt worry about it.

I only know 2 people with Ps4's but both of them are having issues with their controllers, mostly the rubber coming off.  Neither of them are major gamers.

Have got the same experience. Two of them already exchanged theirs  and the rubber still goes off (they play mostly FIFA which is played more insistently than e.g. DC Universe).

I am pretty sure the gumming problems were already solved or not really existent.

The company who has made the rubber mixture must have made a mistake with the components, because only a small part of controllers is affected.Few in the US(Ps 4 controller amazon rating average 4.5) way more in Germany(rating:3.5)
As i'm pretty sure that gaming habbits don't differ that much i suppose germany got more controllers with the wrong/bad rubber mixture which makes the rubber crisp.
Therefore nothing has to be changed butfurther mistakes in rubber production only quality controle has to be increased.

Never heard about l/r 1 issues.

Only issue with the DS4 is the battery life. Everything else is just made up, imo

If you say so: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=711160

Go ahead and read the reddit thread that the gaf article referenced. The rubber wasn't worn from just normal use. It looks either heavily scratched or sanded

edit: and the gaf thread says the same

I have a PS4 and play every night my DS4 is fine with no signs of wear or tear or gumming at the sticks. Not sure who started this rummor or if its only a few people that are effected but my contoller is fine and I have a second one that is also problem free.

To be fair, the first night I had my PS4, a FIFA tourney caused the rubber to start coming off one of my DS4s. You mustn't be playing hard enough :P

No issue so far.
