Over 75% of the predictions fell far below the actual numbers. Hilarious, but expected here.

Kinda serves those users right for allowing pessimism to cloud their minds instead of being open.

And that's just the weekend. Can't wait for the first week sales comparisons. Not expecting excessive domination, but unlike 75%+ of the predictors here, I do expect it being over 1 million. =)

OK, let's be fair to all.

MK7 did 684k FW. On the 3DS. During the holydays. Or to be more fair, just under 1.3 million when launces alligned.

No one, I dare to say no one with a SANE MIND would have thought over 1 million.

^ Just to add to that, though: Mario Kart titles do generally sell a bit worse on handhelds. The Wii version outsold the DS version despite the DS eventually having about 1.5 times the user base. The GC version outsold the GBA version, too, despite the GBA having nearly 4 times the user base.

Well, I did that prediction before they announced the free game promotion... I predicted 301K in Japan after the promotion was announced (although the Japanese promotion is worse).

But I keep the other predictions.

Why is it hilarious?

What's the point of mentioning the US first week of MK7. the 1.3 million you mentioned was the relevant number. Over one million was pretty much a given, with the many (a lot) bellow 1 million predictions were the odd ones.

The 684k sold are the official FW numbers, since that's what it sold when it was released. 

I find it funny that everyone was so wrong. In particular that 99% were wrong due to negativity. Far too often people use the recent past to predict the future. Thoughts should focus on the present.
