Forums - Sales - UK Charts - week ending Jan 25

Gah, every week UK sales get more and more boring...I can't speak for any specific gamer on here who might be from the UK, so no offense to you, but seriously, the UK has no damn standards in gaming. Least interesting gaming market to watch.

If you're a Nintendo fan, I guess.

It has nothing to do with that. They just follow fads, hype, and marketing propaganda. How else is Aliens: Colonial Marines still on there? And why are Knack and Mario Party doing better than things like Ryse, Pokemon, or the Last of Us? And don't say because they've been out longer. Minecraft is still doing well and it's been out forever. Seriously, it doesn't take a good computer to play Minecraft. You can get it cheaper digitally and get a much better experience from the ridiculous amount of mods. Why is the 360 version of all things still in second place for individual formats? Selling ahead of Killzone? And not even Nintendo fans want to see Mario Party at the top of Nintendo, selling above Pokemon. Does Mario Party really deserve to sell better than Gran Turismo 6? It's just stupid. Fucking English don't know quality games when they see them. You don't see this shit happening in Germany and France. As a whole, the UK doesn't get video games. It's seriously JUST the UK. Not saying there aren't intelligent gamers of taste there, but as a whole, the market is retarded. I've got nothing against the country, nothing against anyone in particular there, but the game buying habits of the UK are disappointing by any standards.

Fair enough to both points, but that changes very little about what I said. And I wouldn't buy Colonial Marines even for 50 cents, so I still think they're dumb to buy it.

Well, the lack of Nintendo software is depressing.. However, the fact that Mario Party Island Tour is  the best selling Nintendo-made game is even more depressing...

the fact that Nintendo continue to make bad games out of good franchises is depressing =(  Well maybe Mario Golf will turn out a lot better, but Im really doubting it. Agree with you completely

Yes.. The English  also seem to not care about quality games that much. Knack, Aliens Colonial Marines and Mario Party Island Tour are doing better than 3D World and A Link Between Worlds while the exact opposite is happening in Germany and France.

Aliens Colonial Marines is only selling well because its heavily discounted. I picked up a brand new copy at Asda a couple of weeks ago for only £5. They're still selling it for that amount. At that price you dont mind buying a crap game.

Yeah, me too, but I think for many people who are not that much into gaming, it's just like, "Popular franchise, 5 pounds?", "Fuck that, I'll skip coffee today and get this instead" and I wouldn't blame them that much for it. Some things are more pre-determined, like Knack for example is heavily bundled in UK, people want PS4, it's sold out, and the last things that stays in stock is the Knack bundle, as showcased by the Amazon UK thread.

But overall I didn't want to really argue with your post, cause I agree that UK charts often show software of questionable quality high on the list. It's mostly the Ryse reference that striked me so much, cause damn, Ryse with Pokemon and TLoU in one line...please never do that again

I...should be ashamed...you're right...I was being accused of company bias, and Microsoft didn't have anything interesting on the charts aside from Minecraft and I thought...never mind I didn't think it through... XD
