Forums - Microsoft - 343 Industries Hires Pro Halo Player for Upcoming Xbox One

Didn't people not like Halo 4's multiplayer? So I don't think it would be a good idea hiring him...

What they NEED to do is hire Bungie lol. Been a die hard player since before XBL was even a THING, and while I thought the games was decent, Halo 4 didn't feel like Halo. They went way too far with MP (load outs? This isn't COD) and the music was AWFUL. Seriously. Outside of MP being unHalo like, the game misses O'Donnell's score A LOT. I never realized just how important his music was to the feel of that franchise until he was gone.

I agree that they casualized Halo 4 too much by copying CoD, but I don't think the music was horrible, it wasn't as good as Marty's iconic Halo music, but it was good in it's own way. I do feel like 343 needs to license some of Marty's most iconic Halo songs though, and mix them in with some Neil Davidge originals.

Maybe I was being a little harsh when I said awful, but I am a composer myself and I was totally let down by the score. I booted up Halo 3 not long ago, and let the main theme play out and there is a section in that score where you can hear this very sorrowful piano come in, and it's absolutely beautiful. Marty, imo, is the John Williams of video games. He's in the elite class of about a handful of composers working in the industry and probably the only non Japanese composer I enjoy.

Halo Imo story is much more important and 343 did a much better job than Bungie ever did with story, Bungie owned them with multiplayer though, Halo music was pretty good, Marty was better though, Multiplayer is a easier fix than having a good story, If they listen to community feedback it can be made awesome very easily

You have to understand that what 343 wrote, came off of the work Bungie and the books/fan fiction was able to create.

Yes but Bungie never gave a shit about the books as you can see from Reach. So I'd say 343 is doing a way better job with the story.

I'm pretty certain that he's a longtime Halo player, as are the other pro Halo players that 343 have hired. I'm pretty sure that at least one of those Pro Halo players went on record saying that they wanted classic Halo multiplayer to return, so having him work there is defintiely a good thing for Halo 5.

Then that's good news! I'm really hoping to see playlists that allow for 32 people in Halo 5.

Making a game with increasing intention of being "for" esports is inversely proportional to its actual entertainment in both normal and pro games.

I absolutely LOVE watching pro Halo tournaments. The amount of skill needed is wonderful.

You guys are right about 343 caring more about the books than Bungie. And I hope that means that they'll make John's Spartan II squadmates, who are mostly only in the books and the Forward Unto Dawn miniseries, characters in Halo 5.

Would really really love for John's Blue Team squad to come back, If only to knock these Spartans 4'S down and make them less cocky with everything they say Lol Spartan II > Spartan IV >=) and tbf Linda, Kelly and Fred all sounded like badases in the books, Idk what one out off Linda or Kelly but one off them was like the fastest Spartan I think Lol (John could really do with a few friends right now also Lol)

  • Linda is the best sniper out of all the Spartan II's (she once shot two targets fast enough that even John couldn't tell which she shot first).
  • Kelly is the fastest, capable of running at nearly 40 MPH in short burts. She also has an increadible tolerance for pain, surviving serious injuries on many occasions.
  • Frederic is the 2nd best sniper and the best spotter. He's also particularly skilled at knife fighting. He's also the 2nd best leader behind John. John once said that Frederic came in 2nd place in every single area when they were in training, John thinks that he pursposefully held himself back in many areas so that he wouldn't come in first since he was shy and didn't want to stand out, so he's perhaps the most exceptional of all the Spartan's even though he hides it.
  • And John is of course the best leader and the luckiest of all the Spartan's, which is why Cortana chose him.

I really do hope that 343 puts them in this game, they need someone to provide dialog now that Cortana is gone and since John isn't very talkative. The fact that 343 put Linda and Frederic in Forward Unto Dawn is hopefully a good sign that they plan to introduce them into the games. Really there's no reason why they couldn't introduce them, they returned to Earth after the events on Onyx a few Years before Halo 4, and John returned to Earth at the end of Halo 4, so it stands to reason that he would have met back up with them and been assigned back to Blue Team as leader.

Imagine being able to choose who you wanted to play with...and each having their own stories to play through. Kinda like mini campaigns for backstory and the main campaign is playing with Chief and everyone meeting up.

I'm amazing people can making a living playing games like that. It's kind of a big joke they used to have in the 90's that all these high paying computer game players would be wanted. It was on a Sunday cartoon like Bloom County or something.

But I have ended making money off most of my hobbies at one time to another. Seems most anything can happen sometimes.

Edit - found it, it was a Gary Larson 'The Far Side' and adjusted for inflation the $50k then would be over $100k now, so double all the prices.

Really not sure I see any point of Consol over PC's since Kinect, Wii and other alternative ways to play have been abandoned.

Top 50 'most fun' game list coming soon!

Tell me a funny joke!
