sooo.. Episodes is the new trend?

On the surface I don't see anything really wrong with this. Instead of just straight up $15, you can pay $9, $11, $13, or of course $15, depending on how much you want to play of the game. Also makes the game appear cheaper.

i think its a great idea, and its actually honest since people that dont like the game dont have to pay the full package from the go

I don't do episodes. Hopefully they'll release a collection someday.

Currently playing:

Bloodbath Paddy Wagon Ultra 9

60 fps eh. That's what they meant by "a treat for fps fans" :)

That episodic model is actually kind of a good idea. For the price I'd assume they were going to release it for anyway ($15) you can choose to buy individual sections instead.

Small thing though, weren't Renegade Kid the ones saying they were hoping to announce the game at a press conference before the end of the month? Wonder what happened with that.

Well firstly they may still make an option where you can buy the whole game at once, but even if not, waiting for each individual episode to download (which'll probably take no time at all), shouldn't kill the game for you!

It's more that I've yet to see a series of episodes that wasn't overly expensive when bought individually, though techinically I can't make that call about this game until I know how much content it's going to have.  And I just hate having my game broken up into bits.  It's extremely annoying and breaks the mood and pacing.  And then to finish the story I've still got to wait for season 2, so I might as well wait on that as well.  I just hate the concept as a whole.  I want to be immersed, not strung along and paying out little by little over a course of years, especially with a game that's so intense and atmospheric.  Makes no sense to me.

Neat, might look into it.

Guess you don't follow any manga! xD

But seriously, I see where you're coming from. I guess all I can say is try to think of Season 2 as a sequal like normal gets typically get.

They never said press conference, they said press event, and it was just that. This was the game they said they were going to announce.

The problem with episodic format is the fact that once all episodes are out, the price is actually cheper for who got late. And, if the first episodes don't make the cut, they can simply cancel the enxt episodes, or change the gameplay to attract more audience. Its the same problem than series. One season poor handled can ruin the entire show.

"Hardware design isn’t about making the most powerful thing you can.
Today most hardware design is left to other companies, but when you make hardware without taking into account the needs of the eventual software developers, you end up with bloated hardware full of pointless excess. From the outset one must consider design from both a hardware and software perspective."

Most games get price drops after a while, and your next bit is assumptions and what ifs that also isn't restricted to episodic games (Jak n Daxter come to mind), and wont necessarily be the case with this game.
