Forums - Microsoft - Digital Foundry: How the 13GB patch improves the performance of Dead Rising 3

The answer is: It doesn't

www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-2014-dead-rising-3-patch

"In some scenes we actually see the pre-patched game put out slightly higher metrics, but this simply reflects variances in gameplay between our two test runs. Overall, it's hard to see where exactly the improvements in performance have been made, suggesting that the optimisations are rather more subtle than we were hoping for. In the first two to three levels at least, there are no obviously noticeable signs of the smoother experience promised by Capcom Vancouver, and a close look at the game's real-time cinematics reveals almost completely identical frame-rates in exact like-for-like scenes, where the rendering load is very closely duplicated on repeat playthroughs. Clearly, cinematics alone won't be engaging many of the game's sub-systems, but it does suggest that the core rendering engine hasn't seen any fundamental upgrades, as sudden drops in frame-rate occur at exactly the same moments."

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

People keep asking why the patch is 13GB. The reason is obvious: It contains the DLC.

The PS5 Exists.

Bit of a misleading title, wonder what could be in the 13gb of patch data so then? dlc they'll be selling over the next year for the game? That is around the same amount of data as DR1 3 times over as a patch tho... for nothing? Capcom have no sympathy for data caps.

Why not check me out on youtube and help me on the way to 2k subs over at www.youtube.com/stormcloudlive

i don't care. i've watched ~10 hours of gameplay of dead rising 3 and this game is on the top of my games list for the xbox one.
i hope they release a version with all the DLC included, since i live in germany and won't be able to buy DLC afaik.

must-have-list for platforms i don't own yet:

WiiU: Donkey Kong

XBone: Dead Rising 3, Ryse

I can already predict for this gen people hating on developers for NOT putting the DLC on the disk

It doesn't?.... You are telling me that the 13GB patch... improves nothing? That's it, I lost my faith in humanity.

"I've Underestimated the Horse Power from Mario Kart 8, I'll Never Doubt the WiiU's Engine Again"

13 freaking gigabytes ?

Remember when you were in shock and awe because Conker´s bad fur day came on a 64 mb cartridge on the N64 ?

13 gb just for some dlc ?

...

They are just trying to show that to depend on internet for your gaming needs may be a terrible decision depending of the dev.

Oh they will, DR3 Hyper edition, but dont get that because you will not be able to get the DLC on the Super Premium edition. JK there will likely be a PS4 definitive version with proper framrate and all DLC.

Getting an XBOX One for me is like being in a bad relationship but staying together because we have kids. XBone we have 20000+ achievement points, 2+ years of XBL Gold and 20000+ MS points. I think its best we stay together if only for the MS points.

Nintendo Treehouse is what happens when a publisher is confident and proud of its games and doesn't need to show CGI lies for five minutes.

It was a forced DLC patch since begining... welcome to the opposite from what you loved in Xbox 360.
