Forums - Sony - Uncharted 4 and The Last of Us GOTY Edition Doubtful for 2014

Naughty Dog has stated it's "doubtful" that we'll see either Uncharted 4 or The Last of Us: Game of the Year Edition in 2014.

The news comes courtesy of community strategist Eric Monacelli, who responded to a fan question on the PS Blog about whether we'd see either title this year with a brief "Ha. Doubtful."

Uncharted is one of the most popular PlayStation-exclusive franchises, and has been developer Naughty Dog’s bread and butter for years. So it came as no surprise when Uncharted for PlayStation 4 was revealed with a brief, mysterious teaser. Since then, we've only had a sliver of more information, in the form of the game's motion capture actors tweeting pictures of their time in the studio.

We expect to see a lot more of Uncharted on Sony's latest console at this year's E3 in June. Hopefully we'll get a better idea of when Naughty Dog plans to launch the title then too.

Earlier today, we Monacelli also suggested that The Last of Us: Left Behind would beboth the first and last single-player DLC for the title.

That is the first time i hear about Uncharted 4 being officially revealed at all.

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

Pity about UC4, but kinda expected really. Now, not releasing a GOTY edition for TLOU seems weird to me, maybe they don't see the point of doing it on the old console, but I think it would be an easy way to drive some more sales.

I think it has more to do with the 1 story based DLC. Or they want everyone focusing on UC4.

So they can start quickly on a PS4 port, right? RIGHT?

Well that DLC releases in February, they still could release a GOTY edition in the summer or something. Also why would they want people to focus on UC4 if it's not releasing anyway? :D

I meant their full team.

Glad to be honest, already enough for 2014, better to spread out your launches, and by 2015 the hype for uc4 will be big, 2014 is too soon.

This could be because the game retains its high price tag very well. Not sure about the US but it's still €50 over here - most PS3 games rapidly drop in price. There's no reason to release a €30 GOTY edition when you can sell the core game at a higher price and sell the DLC separately.

Either that or there'll be a PS4 version - I'd actually dig that a lot as I haven't played the game yet (and if I can get the PS3 version for 50 bucks or the better looking PS4 GOTY edition for 60 - yeah, I'd go PS4 then).

how about a last of us definitive edition on ps4? I've still not even played that game!!!

it would be better than tomb raider definitive edition
