Forums - Gaming - Most Awarded Video Game in History: The Last of Us

Nice. Awards don't always tell the full story.

I wouldn't even say The Last Of Us is the best TPS of all time.

Resident Evil (PS1), Resident Evil: Remake (Gamecube), Resident Evil 4 (Gamecube) and Uncharted 2: Among Thieves are better.

Why? They've pushed the genre to new heights.

The Last Of Us owes a debt to those games. No doubt about that.

To sum up my opinion on the matter The Last of Us - dunkview - YouTube

Honestly, in terms of gameplay this sums up my experience perfectly.

Current gaming platforms - Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Wii U, New 3DS, PC

I disagree about it resonating and impacting gamers more than any game in history. This just shows there are way more websites and fansites than in the past.

I don't agree as in "resonance more than other games in the industry", but I do think the game deserve the awards.

Overhyped? Maybe. Masterpiece? Indeed.

It has clearly resonated and impacted critics and gamers more than any other game in history

Ummmm...... no.

Exactly.  TLOU is great, but  Mario Bros,  Mario 64, Ocarina of Time, Halo Combat Evolved, Resident Evil 4, Final Fantasy VII, Grand Theft Auto III, Devil May Cry and many others  had a bigger impact than TLOU.

Don't you think 6 months after release is a bit early to decide what impact TLOU will have on games? Or are you going to tell me that people knew 6 months after its release that Mario Bros for example would still be relevant 30 years later?

I am sorry, but Super Mario Bros invented the 2D platforming genre as we know it today. I just don't see TLOU having the same impact..... gameplay-wise at least.

So much butt-hurtiness that it is funny. Go celebrate the game you preffer and stop bitching because TLOU obliterated it in quality and reception.

Azzanation: "PS5 wouldn't sold out at launch without scalpers."

I'm starting to think the word 'masterpiece' is thrown around too much now-a-days.

However, it's hard denying that this game had all the right things to make it a critic's choice.

You never know. All I'm saying is that it 's premature to say that TLOU won't have as much of an impact on games as some of the games you listed.

Probably because there are more outlets giving out said award than in the past. I mean Skyrim certainly wasn't the best game ever according to most of those outlets that honored it. There's just more GotY awards going out these days. That being said LoU is freaking amazing!
