Forums - Sony - GameStop on PS4 demand: 'Selling out as quickly as we could stock them'

You guy's are funny thinking that exclusives have made any difference when it comes to Xbox One and PS4 sales. They made no difference last gen, which is why the console sale numbers between Xbox 360 and PS3 are almost identical. Heres the bottom line to me.

Call of Duty North America Sales - PS4 - 910k Xbox One - 980k
Battlefield North America. Sales - PS4 - 660k Xbox One - 720k
----Near Identical U.S. console sales----

Fifa Europe Sales - PS4 - 880k Xbox One - 440k
----PS4 is beating Xbox One in Europe by alot---

Killzone + Knack has sold 1.73 million. Forza + Dead Rising + Ryse has sold 2.4 million. Xbox One has more exclusives (on disc) and it's made no difference, why? because the people buying these consoles are all COD/Battlefield/FIFA gamers.

Forza is estimated at about 940k; Ryse @ 70k; Dead Rising 3 @ 70k

Killzone Shadowfall is @ 1.2m that's close to a 25% attach rate which isn't bad at all for any of these games I'd say! Also there are quite a bit more games I can play on the PS4 that you can't play on the Xone(some just for now)

edit: 1.63m COD:g for PS4 and 1.4m for Xone; in that light 1.2m for KZ:SF doesn't look to bad at all... Fair enough though people mostly bought the next gen consoles for next gen graphics and games not neccessarily exclusives available at launch

People must really want to play Killzone.....

Err you do realize that the PS4 is a future investment right? People are buying to play Infamous Second Son, Uncharted 4, GT7, LBP 3, and so on. Did people just buy the XBO because they HAD to play Ryse?

This...

This needs to be said to EVERYONE who says "too bad it has no games" ... its like.. cool I could care less. I got it for a future investment. If i have the moeny to have it now and be a part of the launch hype and get to play those first next gen games for the very first time. That's pretty cool. The good and great games will come in time. Until then let them enjoy Killzone or Knack or Fifa PS4 or whatever game. It really has NOTHING to do with Killzone or ANY launch game why the PS4 is selling so well. He said it best "PS4 is a future investment" as are most consoles at launch.

I would even say at this point " PS4 is the futur investment" , sales bring games.

Predictions for end of 2014 HW sales:

 PS4: 17m   XB1: 10m    WiiU: 10m   Vita: 10m

Here in Australia they are sold out until at least March.

Don't know where abouts you are but all my local stores all have PS4 consoles sitting on the shelves, my local EB said only their first 2 shipments sold out.

When Sony ships more in America and Japan the struggle will be very real for the competition.

Nah, gaming is truly global now. While the USA is still the number 1 market, it's no longer important to be dominant there. Sony accepting a close race in the USA in order to be globally dominant is a good strategy.

AND Sony makes more money off each console sold in almost every other market. It's like the USA is the loss leader market and everywhere else subsidises it. So from a hardware profit perspective Sony is better off selling those 30,000 units a week around those 40 extra markets than selling them in the USA.

price is the difference. it's that simple. Your average mom and dad comsumer is going to see that the ps4 is $100 cheaper and buy that. If microsoft can lower the price and are come up with some cheaper bundle, then sales will quickly rise, but the xbox one is honestly not doing that bad at the current price point.
