Uh, what? There won't be any more CPUs released for the current AMD sockets.

True but AMD supports their sockets for a much longer time and theres much less fragmentation as oppossed to the LGA Gen 1,2,3 etc sockets.

Their non-existent sockets that they don't have any products for?

???

I was thinking the same thing. Baffling.

I dunno.. MS and Sony sold >7mio consoles for the year's end. Assuming an average $120 per apu, that is over $850mio, most likely over $900mio. More than half of the revenue came from the consoles, so the rest of AMD really sold piss-poor.... unless they shifted revenue around for the consoles...

They didn't sold piss poor, AMD was nearly bankrupt in 2012. SO they lend a lot of money to do a turnaround story. Now the majority of their profit goes to paying their debt. Without that their EPS would be like 3 times bigger

They intend to sell 32nm CPUs from 2012 for all segments over $150 in 2015. That should let you know how serious they are about keeping that market. |
That's because AMD technically can't make a smaller processor. They had to make a deal with Global Foundies to survive and unfortunately Global Foundries can't get any yields in the 20 nm range. Once their deal with Global Foundries ends though, they'll be able to pump out better processors. Their Jaguar's actually a gold mine for them right now.

AMD is truly in trouble no matter how anyone spins it ...
