Forums - Gaming - Forget MS.. EA is paying 10 dollar CPM!

I think the main problem with the MS thing is that

a) they don't allow any negativity towards the X1 or its games
and
b) the youtubers were supposed to keep it a secret that they were paid by MS, which is illegal

This doesn't seem to do either, aside from telling them not to do videos "focusing" on the glitches.

^This.

I don't like what they are doing, but seems fair game, there is no secrecy and only rule is not to focus on glitches.

Again the only bad thing is that they can't say they are being paid to say good things

This is basically a new way to do marketing. Better to pay youtubers to say nice things (they can still be funny while they do it) than penalize them like a lot of other companies have been doing lately.

Not that I embrace this, but I think is a much better alternative than deleting videos because of copyright issues or whatever.

o yeah forgot about that part:

You agree to keep confidential at all times all matters relating to this Agreement and any Assignment including, without limitation, the Details and Compensation listed above.

You understand that You may not post a copy of this Agreement or any Assignment or any terms thereof online or share them with any third party without EA's prior written consent. You agree that You have read the Nondisclosure Agreement (attached hereto and marked as Exhibit A) and You understand and agree to all of terms of the Nondisclosure Agreement, which are incorporated as part of this Agreement.

And there goes my argument :D

Yeah, having to keep it a secret that you were paid is pretty bad.

I repeat. who cares?

Why does this bother people? Whats the REAL problem? Do tell.

It's obvious you don't see what the problem here is, as you've posted this a dozen times already. There is much interet in this on every gaming website and on this very website as well.

You not understanding this is fine, but you must see by now that your opinion is in the minority.

There is a reason people go to youtube to watch these reviewers and average joe's. Most people are not interested in reviews/analysis that are done by people who are being funded. We want objectivity and that's hard to achieve when someone is paying you.

I'm in the marketing business and find it quite surprising that people didn't knew this was going on for years... I mean.. With certain programs people are getting 5 cents for every "like" they give on Facebook.. its the new way of marketing.. millions of dollars are being spend in social media control.. there is special software tracking every social media outlet for negative tweet/post/whatever about your brand and an employee can respond to that negative post..

Perhaps people believe that Sony is not doing it?

This isn't obligatory. I mean if AngryJoe (which is a pretty bad reviewer anyway imo) wants to take MS's money then he will suffer the consequences for doing it. He doesn't have to do it. Same goes for any other reviewer.

Is he really the minority? How many of the 18 million subscribers that PewDiePie has are "hardcore" gamers who check gaming forums and gaming news? Same applies to any other famous let's player.

In any case, this has been going on since gaming became mainstream, so I don't see how this is a surprise to anyone.

Why are you starting a topic about EA and proceed to post about Sony over and over.

Is this topic supposed to be click/flamebait?
