I guess Reggie Aims is the man to hype up the "next big game".

But didn't everyone yawn when he announced Donkey Kong? I certainly remember A LOT of people VERY disappointed with Reggie and Nintendo.

Now all of a sudden DK is the next big thing? Ok.

Yep. I'm sure it'll be a very good game, but it's no Metroid. I have a Wii U and I'm not even sure if I'll buy it.

Let's be honest here. EVERYONE was waiting on a Zelda announcement. I don't blame them. Zelda next gen is going to be quite special.

Of course I'm looking forward to a next gen Zelda, but that doesn't mean I can't also be thrilled to have a next gen addition to one of my other favourite franchises. (DKC)

I'm not telling you what you can or can't enjoy. I'm looking forward to LIMBO 2. I can't wait to see what horrors and puzzles await in that game. It's going to be awesome.

PEACE OUT!

I'm looking forward to this, I enjoyed the last one on the Wii. It was difficult, yet easy to pick up at the same time. Probably my one of my favorite platformers last generation.

That being said, it's kind of getting annoying seeing every single game being trumpeted as the system's savior, only to be mocked as a flop when it only does average numbers, or gets less than a 90 on Metacritic. One game isn't going to "save" the system, that should be plenty apparent by now.

But looking at some of the posts in this thread, it seems like it's already started. *shakes head*

I didn't; I was ecstatic. A sequel to one of my favourite games of the 7th gen, and one of the finest platformers I have ever played? Yes freaking please!

"One of the finest platformers I have ever played"... Rayman, Sonic, Mario, LIMBO, Rick Dangerous and too many other platformers to name say HI!

Are u trying to tell him his opinion is wrong and that Donkey Kong isnt a great platformer?

It's a "very good" platformer. Same league as Mario and Sonic (and all them legendary platformers)? Nope. Hence why NO ONE will buy DK. But, it'll be fun seeing how DK performs. You can always find the "optimistic" fan boy to blow a game's trumpet and make it seem like it's "God's chosen one".

Ur making no sense. He said it was one of his favorite platformers. He never said anything about the game selling well or being critically acclaimed. Literally all he said was he liked Returns and is excited for the sequel.

Donkey Kong is actually well ahead of Sonic in terms of sales and reception. Sonic has been hit or miss since the genesis days and typically sells 1-3m while every mainline console DK has sold over 5m eith the expection on DKC3 and all have been critically praised. Even remakes and spinoffs have sold over 1m on numerous occasions.

I dont get how ur coming up with this NO ONE will buy it thing.

When the herd loses its way, the shepard must kill the bull that leads them astray.

On track to be the WiiU's most preordered title...

It''s differentiating the U as THE console for platformers....

I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016

Read his comment again. He said, "One of the FINEST platformers I've ever played". Favouritism is something all fans use as a fall back measure when they're on the defensive. It's all good.

Come back to me after DK gets released.

You'll "get" how I'm coming up with "NO ONE will buy it thing".

Bed time here. Gots to get me ZZZZZZzzzzzs.

PEACE OUT!

U said didnt everyone yawn when Donkey Kong was shown

He said he was excited because he loved the previous one

How is that being on the defensive?

And I honestly want to know ur opinion on why u think no one will buy this game, not just "it will and I said so". I actually would like to hear u give a legit reason why this game will sell poorly.

When the herd loses its way, the shepard must kill the bull that leads them astray.

I am buying it and it looks extremely promising. However, I feel this is more for people who have the console and padding for people who will get the console later for other games; thus, I am not expecting a big sales boost coming from this game.

I think that Mario Kart 8 and Smash Bros have a greater potential of boosting system sales (X and SMT X FE also have decent potential, especially in Japan); but with the Wii U's current price, I do not believe they will be able to sustain momentum for a long period.

When they announced Tropical Freeze, I was kind of disappointed at first because my only experience with the franchise was playing the first two on the SNES when I was a kid and not getting far because they were so hard. However, I gave DKCR a chance on the 3ds and as a fan of platformers I can honestly say it was one of the best platformers I have ever played as well. The game encourages you to explore the many different secrets of its beautiful levels at a comfortable pace while challenging you with the traditional dkc platforming challenges which was a balance I had not usually seen in similar side scrollers (also the climbing mechanic they introduced was genius and so much fun). The game had a perfect difficulty balance as well, being not too hard and not too easy (unlike the insanely difficult dkc2 which I eventually beat). Many reviewers when reviewing good platformers like to say that each level was filled with creativeness and introduces something new each level; this was the only game where I completely agree with them, as I was excited to keep playing the next levels to see what new platforming ideas they came up with. After finishing DKCR I am definitely excited for tropical freeze. Anybody who doesn't say DKCR is not a Mario quality level platformer probably hasn't played it yet and is just probably looking at metacritic scores.
