In general you are right though. Sonic transformed didnt perform particularly well and wipeout has died off, especially with studio liverpool beeing shutdown.

I guess theres hope for F-zero with Nintendo though.

But certainly this is not so surprising. Its what this market we have today is coming down to. Each generation you see less games and less variety. This gen we can basically look forward to only having 3 genres. FPS, 3rdPS, Action and RPG mixed with one of those three.
Its the sad state that this market was pushed into for trying to rush in technology and business models that will flop if they dont sell on the multi-million numbers.
This "next-gen" is gonna see far less games than last gen. I really start to agree that indies as the ones that are gonna save the industry. This blockbuster model is gonna go bust sooner rather than later.

Not hardly. The next GT and Forza will both sell more than their immediate predecessors. I'm willing to bet that GT7 will out-sell GT5.

I terms of popularity and sales...yea, but when your talking about quality no. Also theres some really cool indie racers coming out.
