Forums - Gaming - VGChartz is as tracking service as good as NPD, or why npd gospel is retarded

Let's get something straight. NPD is WAY more accurate than VGC. NPD get's ~65% of actual retail data (and I think that % was before they started getting Walmart data) direct from retailers. VGC gets nowhere near that for any region. That's the reason VGC was off in early '13 by 1M and 1M+ for the 360 and PS3, respectively. It's also why this site always adjusts when it is completely out of sync with official trackers.

That's not to knock this site, cause it's a great site for reference. Especially if you're dealing with numbers that are at least 6 months old. By then, VGC has gotten more data to base their adjustments on, if they need to adjust at all.

You 3 basicly follow the rest in nonsense we dont know from both parties the datapoints
And why would sony pay for vgc numbers if they are so wromg as yoj claim

Sony would pay for VGC numbers because a lot of data is on offer.

NPD is America(US?) only. VGChartz estimates worldwide numbers for thousands of games per week including preorder data and comparison tools for pretty much everything.

VGChartz Pro is accessible at different product levels to suit the needs of the client and a wide variety of roll-up and drill-down options exist throughout the application to provide the appropriate level of detail for research needs. Platform, Company and Genre level reporting for Hardware, Software and Software Pre-Orders is also available.  VGChartz Pro data can be exported to hi-resolution charts, excel data files and printable PDFs.

VGChartz is far beyond just weekly software/hardware tracking.

I think the point is the NPD is not 100% accurate either...

I find Vgchartz decently accurate and reliable contrary to most people say, and is not really the ultimate source since they exptrapolate 35% of their market data...so pretty much on par honestly

They used 4500 datapoints for a market roughly 170 million users big t
They extrapolate thus even they can be
wrong
These reactions are exactly the gospel i mean

Instead of seeking to convince others, we can be open to changing our own minds, and seek out information that contradicts our own steadfast point of view. Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.

Digital sales account for allot of video game sales.Just take a look at the sals chart on PSN. Until NPD can correctly track these digital sales, I take NPD sales with a grain of salt..........

And to finish off my part in this thread - People expect far too much of VGChartz.

You get the data for free. Be happy with it. Theyre estimations for worldwide numbers, estimations that you get from nowhere else on the Internet. You cant expect to have perfectly accurate worldwide data available at the click of a finger for no cost at all. Thats unreasonable, and its unreasonable to expect VGChartz numbers to always be accurate when VGC compiles so much data for so many titles.

Vgchartz is no way near as accurate as NPD. NPD are reliable and people trust their numbers, people have never really trusted Vgchartz numbers except when they go off of other people's numbers.

When the big 3 will quote Vgchartz numbers in their press releases, like they are now quoting NPD and GFK numbers, I will treat Vgchartz equally.

Sony is a subscriber: http://www.vgchartz.com/pro/

NPD is more accurate but is monthly and slower to come out, so VGC has it's own value in that it helps read the general pulse sooner than NPD.

Reliable based on what there is no benchmark.

People trusted also that there were witches in tnr middle ages. 90% of the people just follow others
