Each time I go to a forum there's a bunch of, you know computer, 360, Wii, Atari owners who will tell you that the PS3 sucks. Thanks for us my hand can't reach their cheeks. The level of lie is high, and I hate when people are lying for small purpose like this. I am not THAT a sony follower, I always have been critical to their business behavior and if I had one chance to encouter Shuhei Yoshida, who's maybe almost the same dick as Kutaragi was, I'll pie his face pretty hard.
But, I can't help to hardly think that actually, the PS3 is the best console you could buy. And actually, it's maybe the best console that has ever been made. Seriousely, we're at the end of a generation, at the begin of a new one, and still the PS3 is maybe the most solid console ever.
- A fine console.
I will not speak about PS3 ultra slim and Fat, as I find them pretty ugly. The PS3 slim is a fine looking console, quite solid, durable and pretty silent too. The DS3 controler is also quite fine. You can turn on your PS3 by pushing the PS button on your pad, you can play wireless perfectly, you can buy almost every game digital and it has "solid" online feature. You can play your blu ray, dvd, cd or external usb files. The PS2 was already a solid console, but the PS3 is just a huge leap forward. As a small point : The 360 can do almost all of things too, minus the bluray and other smallest facts.
- The online is free.
Every XBOX 36 users will tell you the PS3's online sucks. You know like every XBOX's user owns a PS3 next to their 360... I am a serious fighting player. I play on GGPO a lot, I am ranked something like the 6th Balrog on the Street Fighter 4 AE ranking, and we all know how much lag and ping matter in fighting games. And it's true that the 360 has a slighty better online, I will not lie. BUT, the difference is minimal, really. It's a question of 5 to 15 ping difference. You'll feel a difference on fighting games where timing are crucial and strict as fuck, but no chance to feel it with other genre. Anyway, the online being free on PS3 cover this difference by far.
- The catalogue is huge.
You have the multi plateform catalogue, but you also have a bunch of PS3 great exclusives. And by great PS3 exclusives I am not speaking about the GT5/6 fraud, the overstimated Ni no Kuni or other turds like that (You can include Beyond two soul in this list without complex remorse). I am speaking about games like Demon souls, Journey, Flower, The Last of Us, Uncharted 2, Little Big Planet 2, and little gems like Dragon's Crown. You think that's already great ?
Ask everyone what they think about the playstation 1 and the playstation 2. Their is something like 89 of 100 chances that the answer would be "This two consoles were fantastic". And we all know how a pain it is to keep a PSX, a PS2 and a PS3 next to eachothers.
The problem is solved by owning a PS3. Almost (and this is a very little "almost") the best titles of this two consoles are available on the PS3. And for the PS2 those are superior HD version. Only two important names I can think about are Dragon Quest VIII PS2 and Tekken 3 PSX. Yep, the calaogue is huge, and it's not only huge, it's also full of great games for almost every generation. You can also find Dreamcast gems on it, Megadrive gems and more...
- Now, it's cheap as potatoes.
And all of thoses things, for less than 220$ (199€ in europe) ? Because yes, the PS3 is now cheap as tomatoes. Well, a bunch of tomatoes but seriousely it's a very good deal. Plus, you can now find almost all the games at 5/20 dollars.
- Playstation PLUS is one of the best game deal you could find.
I think everyone and their mother agree with this.
In short, THE PS3 IS FANTASTIC.
The only two things who bother me are, the XMB which ass and messy and the ps store design, which is laggy and ugly.
