Forums - Nintendo - Your favourite/least favourite cup in Mario Kart?

Like the title says, what is your favourite cup in Mario Kart? And your most hated...

You can put in your favourite cup and the one you dislike most from every installment if you'd like. I haven't played much of the first, Double Dash or Super Circuit so I won't write those myself. I also encourage you to talk about the stages in your cup, reasons for pick it etc. If you wanna bother with it, you don't need to...

Here is a refresher on the track list: http://mariokart.wikia.com/wiki/Tracks

N64 - Favourite: Mushroom Cup, hard to choose but I like the stages here. But most stages in 64 are great though.
Least favourite: hard to pick, but I go with Star Cup. Sorry Royal Raceway, you're the only I really love here.

DS - Favourite: Shell Cup, I love all the stages here, the GBA one is a little generic but the rest makes up for a perfect MK cup. The GC one, Luigi Circuit is just awesome, same with SNES Mario Circuit 1. That one goes really fast if you snake a little.
Least favourite: Star Cup, I just don't like the fairly generic courses there. Tick Tock Clock is fun though.

Wii - Favourite: Star Cup, in general I don't like the Star Cups in MK games, but this is an exception. Standouts are Koopa Cape and Maple Treeway, both later featured in MK7 (yay!)
Least favourite: Mushroom Cup, all stages are very generic I think. Moo Moo Meadows is a rip off of the N64 one to me

3DS - Favourite: Banana Cup, I think in general MK7 wasn't as good as DS or Wii track-wise. So some old great stages is great!
Least favourite: Star Cup, I swear this is the worst cup ever graced in a MK game! The first, Piranha Plant Pipeway is really difficult, but it looks good. Now here's the bad: Wario's Galleon and Koopa City is both terrible courses in my eyes. And to finish it off with a super generic Wii Fit/Resort stage? Wow... I hate this cup.

Now what do you think is the best and worst cup? I've played way too much MK7 the last few weeks, almost 19 000 coins now... going for the Gold Standard Kart. So I thought up this topic.

Yep.

Instead of seeking to convince others, we can be open to changing our own minds, and seek out information that contradicts our own steadfast point of view. Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.

I won't be talking about all games, just the Wii.

Favorite: Star Cup; With tracks such as Maple Treeway and Koopa Cape, this one is definitely one of the most fun in awhile. As well as being creative, in a sense.

Least Favorite: Leaf Cup; One of the most boring in the game. However, I do like DS Desert Hills... sometimes.

In general I tend to prefer the Star Cup and Special Cup courses the most in almost all of the MK installments, just because I like the challenge of the more complicated tracks that you unlock in the last 2 cups in each game. My favorite course tends to be Rainbow Road most of the time as well, as the music is usually great (especially the N64 track music and the remixed version on 3DS) and it's consistently the most difficult course in every game and I enjoy mastering it. I can't WAIT to see what kind of crazy Rainbow Road they designed for Mario Kart 8's anti-gravity!

Upcoming Games To Get

Definite: Kirby Star Allies (Switch), Mario Tennis Aces (Switch), Fire Emblem (Switch), Yoshi (Switch), Pokemon (Switch), Kingdom Hearts 3 (PS4), Monster Hunter World (PS4)

Considering: Fe (Switch), Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze (Switch), The World Ends With You (Switch), Ys VIII (Switch), Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition (PS4), Kingdom Hearts 2.8 Remix (PS4), The Last Guardian (PS4), Shadow of the Colossus HD (PS4), Anthem (PS4), Shenmue 3 (PS4), WiLD (PS4)

64: Best: Special, worst: Star. Yoshi Valley and DK Jungle Parkway were the best tracks in the game, while Wario Stadium and Sherbert Land were probably the worst

Super Circuit: Best: Lightning (mostly due to Sunset Wilds, the most memorable from that game) Worst: Special (i *hated* that game's Rainbow Road)

DD: Best: Flower (Daisy Cruiser, Mushroom Bridge, and Waluigi Stadium were all solid). Worst: Star (mostly due to Sherbert Land again)

(from here i'm leaving out retro, for the moment)

DS: Best: Flower (Waluigi Pinball). Worst: Star (not a fan of Tick-Tock Clock or DK Pass)

Wii: Best: Star (Maple Treeway, Koopa Circuit, and Grumble Volcano are all solid), Worst: Flower (don't like DK Summit or Wario's Gold Mine)

7: Best: Flower (Rock Rock Mountain and Wuhu Loop), worst: Special (dislike Rosalina's Ice World and 7's Rainbow Road)

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.
