Forums - General - Where are the female users?

serious answer here

Men and women are 100% different.

(speaking in pure generalities here)

We don't have the same humor or private discourse.

When a group of men are hanging out you'll very frequently hear vulgar, sexualized, attacking jokes amongst ourselves. A women enters the group and that stops because society tells us to treat women differently.

When a group of women are hanging out, they may have those occasional jokes, but for the most part its lighter and showing more respect for each other.

Internet adds a layer of perceived privacy and protection that allows people to not hold back and essentially toss out the societal norms where men would hold back and not resort to a man-child. Thus the man-child sexualized vulgar humor quite often comes out.

Often its very funny play on words and purely harmless in nature. Something, anyone on any side of the fence should be intelligent to realize is just a harmless joke and toss it out, even if they didn't find it funny.

Then there are those that are over the top attacks or clearly demonification of a group. These are bannable and when reported, I feel are always banned.

For women in general, they see a far higher number of these crude man-child jokes as offensive BECAUSE they also receive so many more of the inappropriate advances as well as clearly offensive responses.

Men mock each other and don't mean it.  Women compliment each other and don't mean it.  Man-Woman 101.

I wouldn't call it a trap if you're focusing only on the superior half!

Which is?

From the waist to the head.

Which head?

Your guess is as good as mine ;)

Read the first few pages of replies, that is why the female user base is non-existent.

Edit: Scratch that, read the majority of the replies. This site, as nice as the community is, seems to be full of fairly immature male teens who are quite possibly just discovering sex, therefore they talk about it a lot in a way that clearly reveals their inexperience. Whilst there is nothing wrong with that, I am guessing a lot of women (who mature a lot faster than men) are not impressed by it, and so choose to either make a profile as a male, or leave the site.

That's why I disguise myself as "male". I am not asking for those PMs!

Your avatar choices seem to attract quite a crowd.

Hmm...

That's a trap.

Get it? :P

A trap within a trap.

huh...

Is this why my avatar is now Raiden?

I think that this is very telling about the average male's perspective of women in general.  The truth is that men and women are not that different.  Perhaps you're basing this notions on your own life experience.  But having travelled all over the world and met women of all ages/cultures/backgrounds I'm just going to say that you cannot generalize the sex of a person like that.  Maybe you just need to get out of the bubble of life that you currently exist in, but there are females that enjoy the same humor (and even more vulgar than you), do not conform to societal norms, and may even be more of a 'dude' than you.

So when a female sees someone write about how a guy views a girl in this way, it's all the more reason to stay away.  Because you're a bit off, for the most part.

So basically you are trying to say stereotipically girly stuff = inherently bad, and there are girls who are manly too, so they are not all that terrible. Instead of acknowledging a difference you are doing something even worse, which is setting a standard from which to base acceptable behaviour on. You exalted the "butch" exceptions as if to make up for the "femme" majority. The way you jumped on the neutral descritpion of a stereotypical femme showcases your ideological bias even more so.

Your reaction also makes me state with a reasonable confidence you are American and under 20, despite what you might say.

You've also missed the point.  I'm attempting to explain that women are all essentially different from one another in the same way that men are.  Also that many men and women are extremely similar.  I was in no way insinuating that any 'traditional' man or woman was either good or bad.  That assumption is all on you.  My point, once again, is not to generalize anyone based on their sex (or color, height, background, etc.) or you appear to be very out of touch with reality.

And, again, these generalizations are what help keep women from frequenting forums of these kinds (outside of an unhealthy amount of immaturity).

Oh, and be reasonably confident that you are incredibly off-base with all of your assumptions (especially the last one).  Sounds like a more varied life experience might help you out, too.  In time.

There was trashleg, but she doesn't get on the vgchartz anymore. :/

Everybody is different. There are very few girls who are 100% butch or 100% "OMG I BROKE A NAIL". Most of us are somewhat of a mixture, in the same way that most guys are not completely camp or macho. It's just silly to generalize.

Very well put, cheers.
