Farmville is on the decline so i doubt its in the top 20
but Im quite sure Wargaming with world of tanks should top their previous year 2012 in which they had 287 million dollars in revenue

Absolutely and apologies - if I'd have known you were playing the MOBA card then my initial reply would have been very different!

On a slightly different note, WOW should be in there somewhere as well although obviously not as high as it has been in previous years. I will work on a top 20 games of 2013 by revenue - I think it will be very interesting.


I was thinking of mentioning WOW but its had a pretty drastic loss of players. Last time i checked it still had 6-8 million subscribers! Which is crazy really. I'm sure theres other MMO's doing really well too.

its crazy but wow has been racking in at least 1.000 million for 9/10 years now, if that isn't the biggest cashcow ever.
and thats excluding expansions and higher subscription rates

Well you made no allusion that you weren't talking about retail games and since that had been the topic of the thread up to that point then it is fair assumption to make!

Games like Candy Crush, Clash of Clans, League of Legends and DOTA 2 I'd actually group into the same freemium model. My point was to those who weren't that aware that games like this (including LOL and DOTA 2) are actually making a lot more money over sustained periods of time than the retail market that we have been used to for so long.

I have been trying for a long time to nail down some hard figures for League of Legends. I see annual revenue estimates of $100m in some places (which would put it way below the big iOS / Android titles) but I suspect it is quite a bit higher than that. Until I have some hard data I wouldn't like to make a call but certainly I'd put LOL, Candy Crush, Clash of Clans and P&D in the top 10 grossing games of 2013 somewhere along with the more expected suspects like GTA 5, COD Ghosts etc.

Crossfire is insanely massive in China. These guys have a pretty good reputation of accuracy, so I think they are a good starting point even though these are not hard numbers.
