Forums - Sales Discussion - December 2013 NPD Thread! - Everything is in the OP!

December 2013 NPD highlights include:

  • Total combined retail spend on the Xbox platform (Xbox One and Xbox 360) in December reached $1.39 billion, 50 percent of the combined software, hardware and accessories spend in the U.S. (Source: NPD Group, December 2013).

When companies make such stupid arguments (see bolded), you know there was something in the NPD report they absolutely didn't like..

But another thread had the title saying next gen hadn't began. So these sales are invalid.

Anyway the reactions in this thread are pretty funny from both sides.

last month, MS were the only ones providing numbers and people called it "spin".
How would you call this statement now?

The spin was not the number but the words "fastest selling console".

Looks like all of my NPD predictions were correct.

XBONE would slightly beat PS4

and

PS4 plus XBONE would heavily beat 3DS

Dude where do you get your numbers for your sig from Lol

Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.

Now to focus on the real battle -- 3DS vs Vita! ;)

How did ps3 sell less in december than november?

''Hadouken!''

The irony being that ioi's numbers add up to 2.9m.

Edit: And we're all forgetting that this includes 4 extra days in the US. MS said 3m+ as of Dec 31, while NPD Dec goes through Jan 4.

And what does the numbers for PS4 so far add up to? There can always be discreprencies in numbers, but they are som small when it comes to X1 and PS4 that they do not matter much (although, as far as I know, they are bigger for PS4, accordning to numbers we have so far, not sure if I am right though :)). So why is it so easy to accept Sonys numbers, but so hard to accepts MS´s?

Yup big congrats to MS. Well done for a $500 machine to be able to sell at these numbers shows how strong their brand and marketing is.

Sony wouldn't be able to do it at that price. No chance.

What an idiotic post. Sony sold $599 PS3s at launch. Why do you keep insisting that people wouldn't buy $499 XBox Ones at launch?
