Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Am I the only one who dislikes Nintendo?

The problem with threads like this is if they become too controversial an OP can claim he was just trying to be funny and meant nothing by it.

These never end well.

Now I shall be serious, The behaviour of some people on this site has been disgusting just because their horse decided to gallop out of the gate and not pace itself. The truth of the matter is simple it lucked out by Microsoft fucking up with their PR about DRM.. This battle would have been much closer. Then again the race is not over anything can happen. Nothing pisses me off more than people celebrating before the fat lady sings. Be humble your console is ahead. Pray that it will get Sony out of financial shit (that is what I want from them as I live their systems) and don't wish bankruptcy on other consoles just cause you hate them because they don't fit your idea of gaming (i.e. traditional controller and ass planted on the couch).

I've bought every Nintendo console the wiiu was my last and final purchase

I won't buy any more as they have lost touch with gamers and can't offer what they used to akin to snes GameCube n64

core gamers have moved on, its actually impossible to go back to Nintendo after having ps3+4

Because.......?

visceral-cinematic-story driven-emotionally engaging-epic experiences ?

Yes those can´t be had on nintendo systems.

Sarcasm?

nah, it was more a jab at the current trend of the industry (overhyped third party games, buzzwords out the wazzo etc.) and Nintendo´s lack of third party support :)

I can't be seen playing kiddy games when my friends come over home. Please understand I have a reputation I have to live up to.

Feeling the need to say things like that and believe things like that is far more 'kiddy' than any game you could play, including chutes and ladders.

I really can't understand why real gamers can dislike Nintendo!!! I mean okay they have not the most powerful consoles in the last years, but should this be really the reason for all the hate Nintendo receives? They really create awesome games and this is what counts!!! Real gamers should just not play on one console alone just because they are a Fanboy of a company they like!!! It's all about the games and the fun that you have while playing them, and it should be irrelevant on which console they are!!! I'm really a Nintendo Fanboy, but i also planning to buy a XBox One this year, and i would also purchase a PlayStation 4 but i think 2 consoles are enough and because i like Killer Instinct!!! I would like to give an advise, play all Nintendo games, or you will miss alot of great games in your life!!!

But I can easily say play all Sony games or you'll miss a lot of great games such as TLOU, Uncharted, Infamous, Tales games, Ni No Kuni etc.

Also not all Nintendo games are good. This is what annoys me about some Nintendo fans. They assume only Nintendo games are good and everything else is rubbish.  The Big 3 have all had absolutely dire games on their consoles. Nothing is perfect.

You should've said let me give you an advice; play what you want!

I used to dislike Nintendo until I started giving them a chance, I think alot of the issues many users face is that they hate change, we like what have right now and don't want a competitor coming in and changing things. If you picked up any of the big 3 consoles I can guarantee you that there is alot of fun to be had, fanboys just convince themselves everything that isn't made by there belovered parent company sucks.

Dis' man speaks the truth!

As a gamer you cannot dislike Nintendo, they made modern gaming, the people who make the games you love all learned from them and played the great Nintendo classics on the NES back in the 80s.

I have not been a Nintendo gamer since I got my segaGenesis a long time ago, but I think they deserve some respect for laying the foundations with Mario, Zelda and Metroid, those were groundbreaking games back then and I would say that at least for the first zelda it has more replayability than most modern games, no matter how much bigger they may be, super mario bros3 is still one of the top platformer of all time the first Metroid is still enjoyable (however the snes follow up aged much better).

Now for the hardware, this is their love for gimmicks that pushed them to invent the shape of the modern controller (look for the nes max, an upgrade they used to sell for the nes) .

basically, this has been sad to see them go since the release of the wii... But i think they still do great marios, however the motion controlled Zeldas just did not work for me... I have not been able to like any of the 3d metroid I tried on the gamecube... So I don't like where they are headed anymore..

@OP

"Not caring about said company/thing, but still feeling compelled to hate on it" is what we in the business refer to as textbook trolling. There is literally no other way to label it.

Case I in point: I could give two shits less about Microsoft or the Xbox Brand. But I do not waste my time hating on it, let alone starting threads about "Hey guys don't you wish Xbox would disappear from the face of the planet". Why? Because people who do that look fucking childish and foolish as hell. It's a waste of your time and everyone else's.

And by the way, while I'm sure that you're already very aware of this, considering the true nature of your thread, Nintendo is about the exact opposite of "Used to be big once but are now pretty much irrelevant to the gaming industry". And how, I wonder, did you come to that sort of conclusion? Was it the fact that Wii was, for it's time, the fastest selling home console of all time? Or was it the retarded-good success of the DS line? Or the fact that every generation, Nintendo's games are among the highest selling and highest rated? Or the fact that out of the Top 50 (or likely even Top 100) selling games of all time, a majority of them are Nintendo titles?

Just for fun, I did a quick count, and as it stands right now, exactly 30 out of the Top 50 highest selling games of all time, and 52 out of the Top 100 overall, are Nintendo games. And not-so-surprisingly? Many of those are recent games, published within the last 10-15 years. Every major franchise they have, Mario, Zelda, Pokemon, Mario Kart, Kirby, Donkey Kong, Metroid, Animal Crossing, Smash Brothers, Paper Mario, the Wii ____ series, Mario Party, Nintendogs, and even many of the more minor ones, such as Punch Out, Kid Icarus, Excite racing, Wave Race, F-Zero, Fire Emblem, Famicom/Advance Wars, and Star Fox, etc., all regularly sell 1 million+ copies per game.

The point being, this thread is, obviously ridiculous, and your sentiments are largely without merit. You can very easily "not really care" about something, and actually partake in ignored it, it's highly possible, and a much better expenditure of your time. Cheers.

I always check the second or third post before reading the op or posting unless I read the op that is but honestly I don't know if this is a joke thread or not and I don't feel like wasting time to see if it is or not so I'll just post this and come back to it later

    R.I.P Mr Iwata :'(

I don't know if you're joking, or if you're a Sony troll, but I'll state the facts: The Nintendo DS has outsold the Sony PSP by 73.3 million units. The Nintendo Wii has outsold the Sony PS3 by 18.4 million units. Furthermore, the Wii made a $6 profit on each unit sold at launch. As for Sony, they were losing over $300 per unit sold at launch, and lost more money on the PS3 than they made on the PS1 and PS2 combined. Sony has lost more than half of its market capital in the last decade due to overpriced TVs, cellphones, and other gadgets. Nintendo is the most succesful video game publisher of all time; both critically and finacially. If you look at the top 10 best selling games of all time, they were ALL on Nintendo platforms. The top 3 most critically acclaimed games of all time were also developed by Nintendo. Oh, and the 3DS has been the best selling video game hardware for over 2 years now, and is destroying the PSP Vita by a 6-to-1 margin. I will admit, the Wii U is struggling, but it will pick up steam when DKTP, X, MK 8, the new Zelda, and B2 hit shelves this year. Face it: Nintendo is worth over 20 BILLION dollars and is here to stay. Its pathetic fanboys like you that make me support Nintendo even more. I inevtiably end up buying all of the consoles made by Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo, because I believe all 3 companies bring something unique to the table, so it saddens me that the cancer that is fanboyism has not been eradicated in 2014. Oh well, I guess I'll keep enjoying some of the greatest games ever made on NINTENDO platforms. Your loss.
