Just like with Nintendo fans did with the Wii U before the other consoles launched, Xbox fans believe that if their console loses demand than it will happen/is happening to the other console.  Just ignore all those instant PS4 sellouts WW when a store does get more stock.  Which still happens even after the PS4 has outsold the One by 1.2M+. 

Microsoft seems competitive in the states, Titanfall could be a game changer for them. Shooters sell consoles, and Microsoft are putting a lot of marketing power behind it.

Once the PS4 initial demand is met it's going to be down to software to drive sales. I'm not sure if Infamous has the widespread appeal to drive sales until the summer. I expect it to be received well critically, but the previous games have only been moderately successful.

Epic bump! My prediction still stands almost a year later. The race to 20,000,000 continues, so far I predicted 1m more consoles than Sony more or less reported for the given dates. If things stand PS4 might end up at 19M which is what I was considering initially, it's in the ballpark anyway.

Also LOL at people recently trying to predict sales for the end of the year when there's only 2 months left...

Update the OP with what it has sold (compared to your predictions).  Your numbers do look pretty good tho.

Donno if it will do it, but what a prediction if it does!  Can Sony produce enough consoles is the big question?  (I am very surprised they produced as many Destiny bundles as they did.  What a good fucking call Sony!)

I think Sony had shipped about 5 million by the end of last year, if they upped their average this year to 1.3 million made a month, then they could ship another 15.6 million this full year from 1/1/2014 to 31/12/2014, so perhaps shipping 20.6 million by the end of this year is feasible.
IMO if PS4 has sold 12 million by the 4th of October, then 50% sales for the year this holiday would put it as 19.6 million by the end of the year.

I think 20 million may be a little bit too much, but I definitely think Sony can get close to it this year.
IMHO smashing 20 million by the middle of January is highly likely at this point, by the end of march next year I think 25 million will be easy for Sony to hit.
Sony will destroy their 17 million by march 2015 target very easily.

yeah but not all of those 12 million were sold this year. Personally I think 16-18M is the safe bet but then again SOny been surprising us all along. 

Maybe it will happen. If it does then the PS4 will outsell the PS2.

These predictions are getting crazier by the minute, but nothing seems impossible for the mighty PS4.
