john carmack ( legend/genius), Shinji Mikami ( Resident evil creator), Keiji Inafune ( megaman creator)

they have all said this.

Many others have not...Mid level gpu versus higher level mgpu..no matter how much you deny it,,,thhat is a significant difference as is 30-50% more pixel resolution. They were just being polite, pr speak.

Upgrade your PC from the x1's gpu and then ps4....it's not marginal.

i gave you names in fact i gave you the name of  one the father of game engines, if you are going to argue dont you think you should aswell?  famousmoit aint  a valid one by the way. also is that your pathetic excuse for everything, "it must be pr'

stop trying to be a wannabe gafer. just because you copy a gaf's mod avatar pic, dont make you one.

It was PR, john carmack has a history of incorrect and foolish statements in the presss, Why would a dev come out and say it and piss of MS?? Please, a mid level gpu versus higher end gpu.......it matters ina  PC it matters in a console. They are just toeing the PR line.

Explain how the higher end GPU doesn;t matter LOL.

MS would probably be wise to just let the tech gap issue drop already.

Don't talk about it. Don't release any official statements about it. Don't expound upon the virtues of the XOne's hardware. Don't attempt to deny or belittle the difference in performance. Etc. Etc.

Just focus on discussing the games and let the segment of the gaming press obsessed with the technical performance of said games say what they want to say.

For a whole generation we had threads and long winded discussions about tiny differences in resolution between the ps3 and 360 multiplat versions of games being a huge thing, for a whole generation Microsoft fans touted the "better" system and often linked to various sites like lensoftruth to confirm this, where marginal differences were often noticable only under heavy scrutiny of stills taken from games in motion, "better aa, better resolution" and so on the hot topics on the tip of many an Xbox fans tongue.

Now the tables have well and truly turned, do you expect the PlayStation fans that went an entire generation of this sort of nit picking (yes, even last gen, despite the differences the games were still the same), and just give Xbox fans a free pass when the shoe is on the other foot? because I sure don't.

And frankly, if you guys don't like it, and think PlayStation fans are jerks, you're in for a treat, because that's exactly how they felt about you for the whole of last gen.

I believe the term is "have a taste of your own medicine".

My guess would be that brand fans of either platform will probably give the tech issue a rest sooner than later.

Granted, some are simply incapable of doing this, but once there are essentially no exceptions to the rule (sometimes X game runs better on X platform, sometimes Y game runs better on Y platform), there's not going to be much point in arguing.

At best, people will be able to look at exclusives, which can't be directly compared, and make their own subjective assessments about which exclusives look better than others.

LOL yep.

Last gen sales mattered, resoultion mattered, now all of a sudden...they don't. How convenient.

Just wait. Stable or unstable 60/30 FPS on both PS4/X1 is not a big issue for anyone, but in 2015 it will be 30 FPS vs unstable 30, that will matter a lot. Same goes to resolution. Framerate drops are very noticeable for everybody.

PS4 has more grunt, end of. Imo trying to PR their way around it, MS is just sounding frustrated and defensive to the point that it is yawn inducing.

The result of doing so only serves as a means of transport for those that would otherwise have had no freaking clue the ps4 was more powerful, to learn that it is as a result.

it's like nissan and toyota releasing cars that look almost identical, and putting them on sale, then having nissan make big banners in their showrooms saying "the toyota may have a more powerful, efficient engine, but our car comes with a tv you can only watch when the hand break is on.

All it does is give free advertising to the competition on areas that would otherwise have been overlooked.

It started out with the xbox one being 50% stronger than the ps4 with the power of the cloud (you were getting 3 xbox ones!). Then it became a little bit stronger. Then it became a little bit weaker. Then it turned into "wait til you see how strong it is!" Then it became marginally weaker, and now it's fairly marginal. When are we all going to admit that the ps4 is twice as strong?

no, just that gold is worth marginally  more.
