I'm an editorial manager in an internet company. I probably spend half my time in the office doing absolutely nothing. :P

It depends, some days I don't have a lot of work and have like half the time without doing anything. Some days I get lots of work though and have to work overtime.

It varies, depending on issues affecting users that day, if we are moving an office or employee, new hires and terminations, if its just imaging computers or other mundane desk tasks, I am just sitting here on vgchartz or surfing the web.

Does this count? (I'm totally working right now, but seriously I would be if I had work to do...)

I work at a factory for now. As we all know, factory work involves constant attention.

At my current job I would say between 15 -20 minutes not counting breaks. But at my previous job I was able to lost between 1h 30m to 2h 30m easily due to extremly long process such as compiling a game that was taking up to 45m while you almost can't do anything.

Ill keep my current job and how much i actually do secret.. but


When i was younger i worked at a hardware store and eventually was running the building materials and hardware department. I wasted a good 4-5 hours every day and was still considered more productive than others. I also had a great ways to dick around doing nothing, yet in reality doing dick all. Like blocking off a massive portion of the store and making an obstacle course for the forklift. The manager actually commended me and a coworker for taking all the safety measures, not realizing what we were actually doing.

As a programmer who needs to meet deadlines I don't really have a lot of time to waste. Without counting breaks I say that maybe 30 minutes or so. Most of those 30 minutes are here on VGChartz

Edit: The thing is that in between projects I usually have a lot of time to waste. I have spent 2 weeks without anything to do while I wait for my boss to assign me a new project. They are somewhat of a mini vacations I guess.

I usually work 6 of my 7 hours, but the last couple of days, I think I accomplished 2 hours of work. Given like I said, it is due to the lack of work, and complaining about lack of work here doesn't go over well.
